Title: Mills slow reel spin
Post by: slotmandave on January 31, 2017, 05:22:58 PM
I have a old Mills slot , I believe it is a spearmint 5 cent machine, When you pull the handle the first reel spins very little where the second and third spin nice and free, How can I correct this? I did take the reel bundle out and put oil on the shaft but no help? Any ideas? THANKS

put an alligator clip in the fan and cycle the game. at this point the reels are released and free to spin. move the suspect reel and see if its as free as the others. if it is, then for some reason its not getting a good push off at the beginning of the cycle.  a lot of times you have to cycle the game many times , carefully watching , and you will pick up whats not right.

Howdy,
When you pulled out the reel assembly, did you pull the reels apart so you had three separated reels?.
If you did so, Then I would suggest that you check out the reel Kicker. it is on the operating handle side inside
and when the machine is activated, it  goes up grabs the three reels and pulls them down for a good spin.

Another thing is the reel mechanism spring on the back of the machine, this should be adjusted by tighten up the spring to give the reels a better spin. This might be your problem!.
