Mechanical Meters
« on: September 29, 2017, 12:31:28 PM »
Is there a way to disconnect and do away with the mechanical meters in a V32?  I know its more than just unplugging them since that gives you a mechanical meter disconnected error. (Had to try it ;) )

Thanks!

You can put a jumper on the backplane where the meter harness connects.

All my A1 v32s are done.  Anyone have a pic of the jumper for the A2 Pro v32?  The connector is different and no idea what pins to use.

I'm guessing it would be #10 but to what pin?

What are the names of the two signal lines you jumpered on the A1 v32 machines? Perhaps that will tell you what 2 lines get jumpered on the A2 Pro v32.

I made the jumpers going by the photo that was posted.  I don't have a schematic of the A1 backplane but did find this in the A1 cables/wiring manual.

I need the backplane pinout schematic.

OK, I found it!

Looks like the meter (counter) sense line needs to be grounded. The meters probably have a daisy-loop thru all of them that eventually connects to ground. That way if any meter is disconnected the meter fault will occur.

I made the jumper and put it in my v22/32.  No more hard meter ticking!

Yup, that's correct.  10 and 11 for the A2 Pro.

Not for the A2 Pro.  Its a 12 pin plug.  Its 10 and 11.

Actually you are correct, I pulled a jumper out of an A2 conversion backplane, J26 on a Pro backplane has 12 pins, so it's 11-10

This is out of my A2 Pro backplanes, all 3 of them are configured that way

My A2 V22/32, and A2 V32 both have 12 pin molex connectors on the backplane for the meters.  Just like the schematic shows. The schematic came from the service manual.  It was 10 and 11 for me.

I'm not sure why you only have a 10 pin molex on your backplane, but I think we all can agree, the V22/32 is an A2 machine and it would be impossible for someone to have pin #11 (or #12) on a 10 pin molex connector.

My A1 T32 has an 10 pin molex for the meters and that was 8 and 9.

OK cool.  I was trying to figured out if there was some sort of unknown back plane board model when they transitioned.
