Bally 935 Reel Dice
« on: November 12, 2017, 08:29:24 PM »
I have a new project under way, a Bally 935 Reel Dice, the machine is pretty clean and in nice shape. I works but has some issues. It takes coins and registers all 6 coins, it pays like it should on the first coin but once you add coins the payouts start to get screwy.  It pays short on any big payout, sometimes when it should pay out the hopper will just hum until the clock times out and then it will shut down.

Every once in a while it will make some weird noise before all of this happens, I have cleaned all of the contacts and steppers but obviously I missed something. It pays like it should on the first coin so I am thinking it is in the count unit or ?? Any help would be appreciated...

Check the hopper for hardware in the bottom. Nuts, bolts, screws etc.

I checked the hopper and did not find anything that should not be there, is it possible that there is a problem with the hopper that is triggered on higher coin rate than on a single coin pay out ?

Did you take the hopper bowl off? I have had the gear box on a hopper not want to work because the grease inside had hardened up.. There are a couple of oil holes on the hopper motor shaft and on the gearbox. If I remember the oil hole for the gearbox is on the bottom. It's a square hole with a felt wick inside.. You put some oil in these holes, then run the hopper.

These hopper have a motor the runs on 110V.. I have a test cord made up with alligator clips, so I can bench test the hopper motors out of the machine. I have also used a heat gun on the gearbox while it's running to help soften up the old grease that's now mixing with so oil..

The other thing you might want to check is the eccentric adjustment on the right side hopper bowl screw. It is a phillip screw, thru a eccentric that adjusts with a 7/16" wrench. If that is too tight and putting too much pressure on the coin wheel causing a bind on the hopper..

Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

Finally got this thing figured out, it appears that the motor break was sticking and would not allow the motor to run which is what was causing all the noise, I adjusted the break and have not had any trouble since... many thanks everyone for your help.....
