Sigma SG-50MB parts missing?
« on: April 22, 2015, 06:01:21 PM »
Starting work on a SG-50MB parts missing machine that I just got. Need coin head & coin mech, is that an MC-40?  And is there a board on the back panel behind reels?  Looks like one was there. so what part & number would that be. Lights up! That's a start. Thanks for any help.

Looks like there is supposed to a power supply assembly on the back wall behind the reels. I don't know which model coin comparator it uses but I think it is a "12vdc with inhibit" type. The MC-40 might be that and there is probably a CC-16 model that works also.

Does your machine look like the one in photo below, I found the photo on internet search:

That would be it.  Theme is Jackpot Time.  So door lights up via cable from power box but not case, so that would be the missing board. Any idea what the part number is?

I was looking for the parts listing for a Sigma 50 but haven't found it yet. Maybe someone can chime in with that info, and I'll keep looking.

Also, Rudy's has a bunch of Sigma parts, he might have some of the items you need. There is a power supply listed there but I don't know which Sigma machine it fits. His Sigma parts are on 2 pages so don't forget to click on page 2 at the bottom:

I did read where the coin comparitor used on Sigma 50 machines is model CC-16D-INHIBIT, 12vdc.  The MC-40 model you mentioned earlier is a coin comparitor by another company and perhaps it is equivalent. It might be written on its label or you can find more about it with a google search.

Below is an ebay ad for a Sigma slot machine power supply, it looks like the one you need but I'm not 100% sure. Does its connector pins look like they would match your machine's cable? You could try contacting the ebay seller to see what Sigma model it works with or which one it came out of, and get the part number of the power supply from him. (you could do the same on that power supply at Rudy's):

slots4home  had some power supplies for Sigma machines.   is there a board in the machine?   the power supply does go behind the reels.  the coin comp. is a 12vdc inhibit version.

Here are some pics. Sorry for the blur. Doesn't look like that power supply works there unless I'm missing some cables. And what is the board for on the side of that power supply in pic #1?

I lightened your picture #1 and now see that there is a board mounted there, don't know what it is for. I tried to enlarge the photo but it's just too blurry to do that.

That board might be what they call the "SIS" board. I think it is used to connect the machine to the casino's computer network (or possibly a bank of machines for progressive jackpot), probably not needed for home use or stand-alone operation. (see below)

Since this machine is new to you I'd suggest you remove the mpu (cpu) board and see if the battery is leaking or corroded. If so you need to get it off the board to prevent further damage.

SG-50 wiring diagram, should be similar to your machine. As you can see, the fluorescent reel and belly lamps don't need the power supply to be present, they are connected to the 115vac line voltage on their own circuit. Looks like the fluorescent lamp in top of machine get its power from the 115vac circuit that eventually connects to the input cable to the missing power supply. The missing power supply provides 5vdc, 12vdc and 24vdc to the machine.

everything Rman  said and provided is for your machine. However, Sigma did use two different type power supplies in their machines. one was a self contained rectangular power supply that had one long molex connector, it also had a small 115vac transformer mounted to it, they were mounted in two places, either behind the reel assembly or behind the hopper.  the other supply was a tray with three small individual powers supply modules ,each providing its own output, +5vdc, +12vdc and +24vdc.  the cable ends should give you a clue as to which one is missing.

The board as shown in your picture, does not use a regular battery, it uses a extremely slow discharge cap for its memory retention. it is visible in the picture, its that round looking device, sticks out like a sore thumb.
 Hope this helps

Too bad you don't have to old power supply, they usually are an easy fix by doing a cap replacement job on it.. You might find a power supply, but they don't always have the mounting plate. The power supply is usually held onto the mounting plate by a few small screws.. I have a couple Sigma Power Supplies, but mine are for the video poker machines.. The connections are different, and the power supply mounts under the monitor shelve, not on the back wall.. Good luck with the search.. I'll keep my eyes open..

The Sigma slot machines usually will have either have one rectangular power supply box or it will have 3 smaller rectangular power supply boxes. Normally the power supply (supplies) are mounted to the back wall behind the spinning reels but on some models the power supply is behind the hopper. The power supply (supplies) are attached to a flat metal plate that is mounted to the slot machine back wall. On this metal plate on some machines there is a transformer that is connected to 115vac, its output is 17vac and that voltage goes to the mpu (cpu) board. Some mpu boards don't use this 17vac so the transformer is not installed.

If the machine has only one rectangular power supply box its board inside will provide the 5v, 12v and 24v. The cable that mates with this power supply will be a large connector with several pins.

When the machine has 3 smaller individual power supply boxes each box supplies one of the voltages, so there is a 5 volt box, a 12 volt box and a 24 volt box. These power supplies use terminal blocks with screws for attaching the wires from the machine, the wires will have spade connectors.

EDIT- On some machines the 24v power is not used and that power supply isn't installed.

Photo below shows how the 3 individual power supply boxes look:

That's the power supply's I've worked with in a Sigma Blackjack video machine B52. Last summer I had a different video poke that the power supply for the 5v & 12v were all in one case and it attached with the spade wire ends and screws. That's the one we put new caps in and it came back to life. I think that was a SG-112b..
