You need either a programer DT-104 (I believe that is the right part number) or a pc connection kit, which hooks up your validator to a pc via an RS-232 serial port.  Both parts have been discontinued by the manufacturer for quite a while, so your only source is secondary market.

Yes, WBA 13's are eprom based, a lot easier to deal with if you don't have the flashing tools.

You can only buy them from someone who wants to get out of theirs.  I have a PC connect kit and I flash my validators, but it took me a long time to find one, so I'm not selling mine.  You might want to post a WTB on the classifieds to see if someone is selling his.  For the home market, they are still quite usefull since the WBA's are really cheap now and easy to swap out.

Yea, It seems the 12's are real cheap that's why I was asking......Just curious can you flash over the old flash or do you have to erase first ?

You just overwrite, takes like 3 minutes or so.  Then you need to calibrate it.

I have never had to re-calibrate any of my 13's. Have I just been lucky or is more of a WBA12 thing ?

Been lucky.  If you ever run accross one of those validators that don't seem to accept at a good rate, means it is out of calibration.  I had only run into that problem 1 time, all other times, dbv was fine after update, but now, I just calibrate as part of the workflow of updating the validator.

The JCM Bluewave p/n 550-100720R along with the JCM bluewave adapter cable p/n 400-000086R can be purchased from JCM directly or through a distributor.


A PS75-002 p/n 701-000148 could also be used with computer with a serial connection or if the computer without serial connector a usb to serial adapter is needed.


Keeping the bill validator clean is essential to high acceptance rates. I have found plain water as needed and a lint free cloth is the best.
