IGT Model B4933CW double diamond (1994) from Trump Plaza (HELP)
« on: December 31, 2014, 12:56:53 PM »
I bought the slot machine at an auction. It functions O.K. but is set for a 5 minute session only. This was some kind of promo machine at Trump Plaza before they closed. It has no coin hopper nor any bill validater. The openings in the machine for coins, bills and tickets have been covered. It plays for 5 minutes, giving you 2000 credits. It totals the credits for the period. I have the reset key and the reset gives you another 5 minute session and resets the total credits earned to zero. Is there any way to change this to a regular slot machine? I don't care about the coins nor the bills. Just eliminate the timer. I am new at this so please be kind.  :hail:

Well let's get you to the right place. That's an S+ machine. Go to S and S-plus reel games and post your question and start from there. It looks like a b/v in there to me though.

Yeah, it looks like there is a bill validator in there and it is unplugged.  You may want to check that first.

:thank_you: Yes, there is a bill validator. I plugged it in and it still does the same thing. It was set up as some kind of promo machine at Trump Plaza. I get 2000 credits and 5 minutes on each reset. Can't get around that. I just want to play it normally with or without money or tickets. Any ideas? :Scratch-Head:

Lets start with game and reel chips. Maybe there is a chip that does this.    Just press the white test button (next to the power switch) enough times so that a 4 is displayed in your coins played window.Looks like on yours, the button may be on the back of your power switch. That's where mine is. It will give you 2 numbers, one is the sp chip (game) and the other is the ss or reel chip. Gotta start somewhere. Let's start with those.

You will have tournament chips in it. All you need to do is get a SP1271 and maybe a SS chip for your strips but I'm thinking just the SP1271. If you get the BV working you can set hopper pay to "0" and play only from credits from bills. I will be glad to walk you through it once you get a chip. It is 1271 you need. I just fixed it.

I don't have much experience with S+  but it sounds like there is a tournament chip in this machine.
That would explain why it plays on time and not credits and also why the jackpot key resets the timer.
We need to know what chips are in the machine.

I just did 10 S+ machines in a month. I can set them up in my sleep right now. A month from now who knows? I will always have my cheat sheet notes.

It is SP 1271 you need. I just fixed it.

Once you provide this information then someone can look in the PSR .. most likely there is some place in the programming section to turn off the tournament mode. If so and the bill acceptor happens to work then you could play the machine. But the hopper limits needs to be set to zero before you start playing it in case someone hits the cash out button (since there is no hopper in there).

Thanks for the help so far. You are right on target. The switch was on the back of the power switch. I put it on 4 and the numbers in the winner paid window switched back and forth : 0176 and 14. The number in the credits window was 0735. Not sure yet if the b/v works but it does reset and has a couple small red lights inside it that light up. It won't take a bill with the door open and I need to remove a cover to try it from the outside with the door closed. I'm checking on getting a SP1271. Thanks again!

You know, just in case you might want to get a BV enable set chip in case it has been turned off. When you get your reset key we can find out if it is on or not. You can push the little test button 2 or 3 times and will see a 2 or a 5 in winner paid. Turn the key until it has a 9-?. If BV is on it will read 9-1. I suspect it will be 9-0. When your ready I can help you over the phone or write it all out here.

I have the reset key. I put it on 2 and turned the key. It started at 10 and goes up to 46 then starts back at 10 again. NO 9-?. I also put it on 5 but the key has no effect.

Guess that means the tournament chip won't allow it. I have a note that says you can make a Haywire from a DD by using SP1274 and SS4270 then it would be a DD Haywire.

The bill validator will not function (and will not be an option) in Tournament mode. (Think about it, casino doesn't want someone walking up and playing a machine set for tournaments.) If you pull out your MPU, chances are you have an ST chip in the SS (Reel) socket.

Easiest thing would be to just order a new SS (Reel) chip, a new SP (Game) chip, and a SET chip (to enable the validator). Shouldn't be more than $20-30 total.

Any of the vendors on the home page  will have a complete set of chips available.
Be sure to pickup a Set chip and a Clear chip while you are at it. You might not need them right away but the cost of shipping is usually more than the chips.

For what it's worth, tournament chips typically support a non-tournament mode as well.

Based on what you've posted, you have a ST0176 REEL chip, and a SP0735 GAME chip.  Unfortunately, I don't have documentation for either of those.

Can you verify that the chip in the GAME socket is SP0735?

The PSR for the GAME chip would explain how to switch the machine out of tournament mode.  Without the PSR, however, we'd be guessing as to the correct setting.  As such, it would be easier to purchase new chips, but it should be possible to switch the machine out of tournament mode without buying new chips.

I just want to play it normally with or without money or tickets. Any ideas? :Scratch-Head:

The only way to play it "normally" is to use coins or bills.  You cannot have the machine in a freeplay mode except for its tournament mode.  At a minimum, you will need to enable the bill validator and insert bills to add credits.  If you want to use coins with it, you'll need to purchase a coin comparator (yours is missing) and a hopper.
