New To Board
« on: May 15, 2017, 03:31:30 PM »

Just trying to get into this as a hobby.  I remember from way back in the day playing IGT 4th of July in Vegas.  As I am new, I don't recall what to check for, such as is this an S, S+, or whatever type of model it is.  Also tried a few of the paying vendors on here to locate said machine, but no hits as of yet.  People post on the internet that they have it, but you call and nope....  Anybody have any ideas?  Should not be so hard to find I would think.

4th of July is one of the more desireable S-Plus games by IGT.  They are out there, hopefully someone will chime in with one.  Fun game for sure.

Thanks for that.  A couple of the vendors I called were really trying to get me to change my purchase.  Was not interested in other stuff at this time.  Of course, they did not have it even though they advertised it.  Guess that is why the game "stinks".  Go figure.

Sometimes when someone is looking for a particular machine it is easier to buy a machine, any machine, that is at a low enough price that you can then buy the game kit (or the individual game parts) and change it to what you really want. Unless I am thinking wrong, you'd just need to buy the 4th of July reel strips, the 2 chips that have the game software and 2 pieces of glass. I'm not familiar with how easy or hard getting the strips or glass would be, but the game software shouldn't be hard to find. After converting it to the game you want you can sell the leftover parts and get part of your cost back.

Also, instead of trying to contact each vendor one by one I'd out a WTB (Want to Buy) message here on NLG. One of the staff folks can move it to the Classified Ads forum. It a no-cost thing to do. That way all of the vendors and other people will see it and you have a better chance of getting help locating the machine. Some of the slot machine sellers that don't have the particular machine you want would like to sell you something else, can't blame them for trying. But if your heart is set on the 4th of July game then give it some time to find one.

I believe this is one of the IGT games that has the "nudge" feature, and that does add an extra amount of fun when playing.

You are, of course, correct.  It has the nudge feature as well as the spin till you win feature.  I thought about a conversion, but each time I review parts vendors, I don't see any conversion materials.

I think a lot of times slot parts places don't have everything listed in their inventory, it's a lot of work to detail every single item. Plus they sometimes have machines that are still intact that they can remove individual parts from when needed, and those parts wouldn't appear in a parts inventory since they are still installed on a machine sitting in a warehouse. Not the best analogy but it is like getting a domelight cover from a car junkyard, they'd go out to a parked car and remove the part at that time of the sale, rather than try to strip every part off of every car and then stock all those parts. Too much effort for something that might sit on a shelf for a long time.

You might keep an eye out for a good working S+ machine at an extra-low price while you are also looking for a 4th of July machine. And maybe ask around about how hard or easy it would be to get the conversion parts you would need if you went that way. There a lot of folks here that have been around the S+ for years, they could probably let you know if this is a game theme that is available.

PS> I think the 4th of July game is available on the S+ and on the S2000. If I'm wrong about this hopefully someone will correct me.

Did you see these (below) when you were searching? My experience is that the asking price is often very negotiable.

Thanks for the above.  You certainly did a complete search to help me out.  Unfortunately, I already saw all of those.  Called all of them.  None of them had it.  Also searched Craigslist, etc. Nothing.

I tried to do my homework before I posted and not be the typical person who just comes on and asks the same question that has been asked a million times. :thank_you:

Can't say I'm too surprised the various slot sellers don't have one at this time. It is probably one of the more popular models and IGT might not have made all that many to begin with. So you may be faced with buying a different machine and converting it. I'd say start checking into the parts needed for a conversion, see how hard that will be.

And collect parts one at a time if that's what it takes. A lot of the rare titles are assembled that way. Redl strips are non-backlit and can probably be aquired from sunkist graphics. There's also a glss reseller in Vegas, can't think of the name right now, that might have that glass. Maybe someone else on here can remember the name. A guy named Frank used to run it, but he passed away and I thi k his son runs it now

A guy named Frank used to run it, but he passed away and I thi k his son runs it now

And there's a guy down in Florida that mainly sells parts for RV's and campers, he bought a small warehouse with many pieces of IGT glass and some reel strips for older machines like the S+ from a company that used to supply cruise ship casinos with slot machines. Some of the items were full game kits but mostly it was glass. He wanted the warehouse, the slot glass is not his main business so he doesn't put a lot of time into advertising or selling it. I saw a partial list of game titles a couple of years ago and it was lengthy. His prices were very reasonable from what I remember. PM me if you want his contact info. He may be retired now but he could have some of what you need.

Those slot machine places that had a 4th of July machine at one time had them priced above the price of an average S+ game, although there was about $100-$200 variation between each reseller. If you are ok with that pricing I'd give them a call and tell them you will take one at their asking price (or something close) and they will do what they can to come up with it. They all know each other and will make some calls to see if anyone out there has one. If they find it they can probably arrange to have it shipped  from wherever it is to you. Unfortunately this hobby is not growing as fast as it used to and many slot sellers have overstock of machines and will usually work hard to make a sale. They mostly get their machines from casinos getting rid of older machines, so there may not be as many S+ machines coming off casino floors as there once were but the S2000 machines are still easy to find. My guess is the 4th of July game on S2000 is the same as the S+ game, and the S2000 may have some better things like enhanced sound. So when searching for a 4th of July game you will want to include the S2000 along with the S+.

I have that kit SOMEWHAT available. I have a 16" top glass, reel strips and a substitute belly glass.  the normal belly glass as seen in the pictures has the words 4th of July on it,  the substitute belly glass is just a plain red, white and blue belly glass, with the words red, white, blue on it.  ALL THE PAYOUTS ARE THE SAME. the difference is in the symbols, on the 4th of July glass (for the first payout only) the symbols indicate any symbol will return the actual bet, 1 coin in wins one coin, two in, return 2 etc.   the red white and blue glass has the word blank on the glass, returns the same payout, so its just the first payout that is different, everything else is the same.

kit includes top glass, belly glass, reel glass, non back lit reel strips, ss chip and a sb chip.  145.00   plus shipping.

I think westfieldslots is located in Houston, if so you could pick it up yourself and save the risk of shipping, plus the cost. You'd also be able to view the machine in person and play it before purchase, which is a big plus. As always, a lot depends on price.

Great machine and thanks for taking the time to show me all of the inventory, both mechanical and video based.   Lots to think about, especially with your input on what is best for the "bang for the buck".   I will PM you as to the next steps based upon your suggestions and my budget.
