Side switch lock wiring.
« on: January 30, 2016, 09:41:31 PM »
Ok I'm a complete doofus. I bypassed the side lock and now forgot which tabs the red and green wires went to! I was just going to drill out the lock... it looks fairly cheap. I could probably carefully drill out the rivets too. I may try that now. Either way... need to know where the darn green and red wires went to!  :duh:

Is that just a jackpot reset keyswitch?  If so, it just needs a momentary connection when the keyswitch is turned -- use a multimeter and see what two posts have continuity when the switch is turned (and no continuity when the switch is in its normal resting position), and connect the wires to those two posts.

Yes it's on the side of my recently acquired IGT PE Joker's Wild Poker. What threw me was that when I got the switch out, I noticed it toggled two directions. I thought maybe one tab was grounded through the housing (of the lock) and one was to make contact to the other wire.
It seems like a such a hefty switch they used.
I was able to rip out the pins so now any key will turn it but was just wondering why it toggled up and back? Maybe this lock is used in other applications?

I've seen some slot machines that have a two-way keyswitch, and depending on which way you turned the key would determine what would happen.

I remember staring at the wired BEFORE I removed them and saying to myself "now remember where these wires go..."
 :banghead:

I'm just going to attach them were I think they went and see what happens!

UPDATE: I disconnected my jumpers I had routed outside the machine and the two internal wires sort of lined themselves up with terminals... so I just hooked them up.
I think I got it right! I believe it just toggles one way for this machine. And I realized that removing the pins may have allowed it to turn both directions? I'm not sure how it was keyed since the key was gone.
Either way I think it's the way it's supposed to be. I get a menu that says all the current machine history and then at the end of the selections, it allows you to clear all credits.
And, to my delight, I'm not getting ANY "coin in time out" errors after opening and closing the door.
This is a great machine. Well worth the $80!  :applause:

At my old age if I take something a part I take the time to take pictures with my cell phone. That way two or three weeks later I can review my phone pictures because I always have my phone on me. Of course there are times I get in a hurry and don't. Then you get to cuss yourself out over and over again. :rotfl:

I usually do take pictures but (this is my great excuse) I had my phone hooked up to my amp, listening to, of all things, Christmas music! So I thought my internal "brain camera" would work for me.
It failed...
But through one trial and no error, I wired it back correctly and it's all good.  :propeller:
Still need a cash tray and I'm looking for the correct manual as well.
