Old reno ? X unit
« on: October 10, 2016, 10:20:32 AM »
Old Reno I picked up an option cabinet machine yesterday it has no wiring but it has a real nice set of real strips and Pay out glass
I can do all the wiring build the index plates and everything but I do not fully understand how the X unit functions and resets the hopper each time it pays out 2 coins for a cherry and then it must pay 2 more coins than the second coin and two more for the third coin
The machine is beautiful not a flaw in it I would love to put it back together I suppose I could pull apart and 809 if I had one and figure out how to do it but I do not have an 809

 I do have 809 schematic

As you can tell I have worked on many machines I am not as good as you I guess I just need to sit down and draw what the X unit does and how it resets do the winter page Circle to reset the hopper for each extra coin I only need to ask you it's because it is only a 3 coin multiplier maybe I am just talking instead of thinking and I should just go wire it in if you can give me a little bit of insight this will be a really beautiful machine

Hi Jon.  I will chime in till OldReno clarifies.

With X units the hopper doesnt reset between coins paid.  If you hit a 10 coin pay with 3 coins played......

The 3x's X unit is selected by odds step up disc prior to spin by inserting the third coin.  If you hit 10 coin pay with 3 coins played the 10 tab is hot.  Hopper starts. Each coin out pulses the 3x's X unit.  X unit steps with each pulse.   Every third pulse is sent to hopper pay dic step up coil to step pay disc wipers.  So to step pay disc ten steps to come off 10 tab it takes thirty coins.  The hopper doesnt reset between each ten coins paid.   This method can be traced on 809 schematic

I will delete after Old Reno chimes in.  I could be wrong.

Jimliner, you got it. Machines with xunits do not reset hopper, that happens with continental type machines which use odds follower circuit. I posted just a bit ago topic on x units so it will be easier to find.  Thx all.

Alright I will to the shop I found a set of X units I found all four from at 8:09 I know somewhere in the shop is an electronic Step Up hopper I am going to wire the assembly up on the bench and make it work and then I will make the wiring harness for the auction cabinet and make it work thank you so much now the next question is how does the Continental type machine function being that I have several of those like I said I do not know nearly as much as you already know you are the best

I'd need a conti schematic, but basically the odds unit tells the odds follower how many times to reset the hopper and allow it to re-pay. So 2 coins in, odds follower cycles once resetting hopper, probably killing coin lockout coil and keeping off insert coin, coin accept and winner paid lights. After last pay its over and you can now insert coin.
As far as i recall thats mostly what it does, but need schema....

Sounds like the Continental wiring is what I thought if you would ever like to view a schematic go to my Facebook page I have both continental and 809 schematics on there to assist anyone that may want to understand more about these machines

If anyone has a conti, pls upload it in action.
But 1st your runaway problem. Pull out your hopper & see how far it has stepped. Always do this on mispays. Does the top unit keep doing its thing or has it stopped during runaway?  Let it run for not more than 2 mins to see if it times out.

Like I said all I have to do is look at a schematic and I should be able to figure out how to wire it I believe this is the correct wiring 4 the 8:09

OK a trip out to the garage to the junk box found an X unit wired it into the only machine I have with a electric step up hopper set it all up.  With a    Molex plug on it got it working Sweet do not have an 809 so I used a 1005 which is a three-line multiplier

How to find someone to mount it :Scratch-Head:

Schema looks good. Dont forget to wire in the xboards, they power the hopper step up on multi coins in as you can see there. Good work.
