Spare Parts
« on: January 18, 2017, 08:27:14 PM »

Hello All,Until I can find a parts machine, I need to purchase some common items from e-bay and would like some input about what to purchase first? Coils and switches? Thank you

That seems a little pricey to me if you hold out you will find a complete machine for 20 or $30 if you need something in the meantime let us know after falling off the roof a while back I am starting to feel better I am going to try to get to the game room today box up a few boxes of parts I need to ship but $100 for a bunch of junk seems pricey

Yes very pricey Jon, Ideally I would like to get another machine for parts but I thought it would be good to get input on a basic replacement list other than bulbs and fuses. Based on your experience on slot machine repairs/failures do encounter any particular items going bad first? Sucks to hear about your fall but it sounds like your on the road to recovery and I hope you get better soon!

Out of the last 200 machines I have built I don't think any to have the same problem the biggest issue is always clean clean clean red synthetic steel wool Scotch-Brite clean all the contacts I use 600 grit wet dry paper on all relay contacts and on the fuel plugs I find 90% of the time these machines need no parts once in awhile a relay or a solenoid reset and the Step Up solenoid spring  I would say are probably the most important spare parts

I do not think you have to clean every 3 months a properly serviced machine should last several years without a cleaning I have one I built a year ago when I was still in Northern California now I am in northern Michigan it still plays flawlessly all over cleaning does it wear out contacts clean the stuff up units clean the rear wipers and oil them with real life oil like three and one argan oil

since we play our 3 machines 45 minutes a day/ 7 days a week I thought 3 months would be ok but after your reply I will only inspect as needed or when I have any machine issues. Thank you again for that insight!

That ad on e-bay includes a make offer option. So, make an offer of what you think the parts are really worth to you. What do you have to lose. Say, $45 and see what happens. The worst thing is that he rejects your offer.

The one deal killer is the $50 shipping.
They are probably trying to make their money from the shipping not the sale.

I would agree with Proten. I think he probably wants to make more money on shipping. I cannot believe that it would cost that much to ship those parts.

yes the shipping is to much ($25 max)  I really wanted the coils, switches and most of all the Beau Plugs. I will throw out a number at this guy which includes the shipping and see what happens.., do you  think its worth $75 with shipping?

I would suggest that perhaps you start lower, around $65.00  and work your way up to $75. Yes I agree the shipping should be half.

Bill,

I would hold off for a parts machine, that's is a lot for those few parts. The new Beau plugs on eBay are reasonable. Just today made an offer on a Summit machine for $75. And that was high offer.
Summit took Bally machines and up dated them with electronic controls, but 60% of the machine has useable Bally parts.
