PE+ Logic Door Open / Test Menu Won't Show.
« on: October 11, 2016, 08:39:42 PM »
Hey Guys!!

So ive got myself a PE+ machine, managed to get the door open to go away with a new set of door optics and a new jackpot/reset switch. I now have the issue of "Logic door open" and belly door open (Belly door im assuming that you can still use the machine with this on).

But also my self test isn't working, again is this because of the logic door open? or should this still work?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Cheers Matt!

Hi Matt,

Are you sure you have a PE+?  I've never seen a PE+ give an error of "Logic Door Open" or "Belly Door Open".  The only message I've ever seen relating to doors on a PE+ is simply, "DOOR OPEN".

Edited to add: I see you're Down Under -- I wonder if you have different software than the standard USA software, or if your MPU board is different from a typical USA MPU board.  As I mentioned above, the PE+ machines I've seen here in the US only ever say "DOOR OPEN" if there's a door open.

Yeah, i did think they might be different but similar in their own right.

The actual MPU casing has PE+ written all over it.

There is a micro switch inside the logic case, that looks like it should of had a key there. This switch does nothing from what i can see?

Is there a ram clear process?

Can you post pics of the machine and of the PCB?  Close ups of the chips would also be nice  :Tongue_Out:

Sounds like the "logic door" and belly door issues are similar to those of the Montana Choice set up.  I remember checking some of those games in MAME and at least one set I was working with did indeed refer to a "logic door"... so the wires might be routed to different switches/pins to account for this.  You can check this for more info on the Montana Choice to standard IGT game conversion for hints:  http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=9723.0

There must be standard pushbutton switch on the belly door or something that tells the machine it's closed / locked.  The logic door maybe something related to the cage for MPU board.

Looks like you have a Superboard there.

I see that your machine has been changed from a CRT to an LCD.
Could you post pictures showing how it was done and what hardware is used.
Thanks

Yeah no worries I'll get to it when i have a spare moment, I'm still tinkering with it a bit i haven't managed to get the colours inverted yet so right now everything is nega (Still very viewable {Playable if my logic door magically closes :P} though). It was a pretty simple swap to be honest... well to get this far anyway.
