jackpot stampede deluxe DOT FAIL watchdog
« on: March 08, 2017, 07:05:33 PM »
i will start out by saying this is the first time i have ever worked on a wms machine. i am the second tech to work on this machine it was brought to me because the first tech expects it to be a board problem and im good at board repair. i will split this into 2 sections with the hopes that it will make things easier.

first tech:
original problem was a dead battery after replacing the battery and clear and reprogram of the machine the machine would boot to "dot fail". in trying to fix the dot fail error the first tech replaced both power supply's, dotmation control board, entire dotmation assembly, io board it the board cage, and finally cpu board(this is where it gets bad). after replacing the cpu board the machine would not boot at all. this is where i took over.

the cpu board is stuck in watchdog reset showing 2 on the 7 segment diagnostic display(this was a pain to read major design flaw if you as me) i get no start up sounds and all voltage leds are on.

what i have done:
check all eprom checksum all test good, check psu voltages all are good, tried 3 other io/boards, tried another cpu board that was pulled out of a working machine, ram clear on both cpu boards i have access to, checked eprom sockets on both boards. replaced all eproms even tho all checksums were correct.

i would love any advice you have for me. also if they are available schematics of the cpu board io board and back plane would be great. i do have a copy of the service manual. i really don't want to have to build a set of extension cables to debug this board on my bench, but i'm thinking that's exactly what im going to have to do.
