WBA 12 Loud Screeching Noise
« on: September 22, 2017, 04:05:24 PM »
I have a WBA 12 that functions perfectly other than the fact that at the very end (after the bill has been accepted and validated) there is a very loud obnoxious screeching noise.  I think it is happening when it puts the bill in the cash can since it happens at the very end of the process.  I lubricated all the visible gears and it made the bill accept even quieter, but did nothing to help the screeching noise.  Is it the gears in the cash can itself causing this?  Ideas?

Some cash cans have a bill stacker mechanism that is a rectangular metal plate with springs, it moves up and down inside the cash can to compress the bills so they are neatly stored. The sides of that metal stacker plate may be rubbing on the sides of the cash can making that noise. For home use you might be able to just remove the stacking plate and springs, let the bills fall into the cash storage box. Or you could take the cash can apart and sand down the inside walls and the edges of the stacking plate, that might let it slide with less noise.

Just my opinion,  It's the BV.  These were noisy even when new.  The old worn out ones do screech and just sound like they are really laboring.  Having had hundreds of these I bench tested them and the screech was there-No cash can etc.  There are rebuild kits for those but it's stupid-In my opinion. You can convert to a mei set-up fairly cheap and do away with that noise.  Mei's are quiet so are uba's . The model of your machince dictates what you need-net-plex,rs-232, etc.

Is it the gears on the WBA units that are screeching, or something else?

I have put a very small drop of oil on the twp motors shafts. I have a needle tip bottle that I use to get to the shafts. You need to be carefull about getting oil in the optics sensors. I have had this help with some noise. I have also oiled the shafts in the bill head. It's not the gears but the shafts that I oil.
Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...
