I'm not sure if Key 17 will work that software installed on a 044 legacy adapter board.  I the same game set and can put one on a legacy adapter board and see.  Key 40 I know will work, but you may have to clear everything in order to change the settings.   Probably any of our vendors can hook you up with either (or both) keys.

I was thinking key 22 or 40 as well. Either should work as 40 is a replacement for the 22.
PM sent.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Actually the correct Keychip for a video set originally needing a KEY 17 but being used on a Legacy Adapter on the 044 Platform would be a KEY 37

Key 37 replaced the 17 just as the Key 40 replaced the 22 for the Enhanced CPU's

While you can use the Key 40 to do Clear and Set Up for the set requiring Key 17 like Tilt said, you won't be able to do just Key functions

Non MD3 OS sets are what use the Key 17, you can tell by the way the accounting and denom set up is

i wonder if my 40 is messed up, it works great for clearing ram/e2 but it has never allowed me to keychip. (837/526 bases)  i hadn't heard of a 37 till i started looking around trying to figure this out.  maybe if i replace my 40 and lay my hands on a 37 can get this taken care of.  thanks for all your assistance  :cool_thumb_up:

It should, but you have to do all three at the same time.  Clear RAM, Clear EEPROM,  Perform Keychip.

I just put a GK4.0 EPROM set on a 044 board w/legacy adapter board.  Key 17 does not work.  The MPU LEDs light up, with the red one flashing.  It does not light the two amber LEDs like it would on a 3902 board.   Like Blueridge said, Key 37 replaces 17 for use on the enhanced boards and I'm sure will key it like 17 would.

Key 40 will key it, but you have to erase RAM/EEPROM like I thought.  It's Ok for initial setup, but a real pain in the ass if you just want to change a single setting.

Good deal.  That should take care of it for you.

I'm still learning too.  I'd never installed an all EPROM based software set on a legacy adapter board until today to test it.  I've only used a legacy adapter board a couple of times and then it was for GK5.3 which called for Key 40 anyhow.  Thanks for motivating me to try it!
