WTB board optos, coin in, IGT S plus
« on: August 23, 2016, 07:28:59 PM »
Wanted:

infrared transmitters and infrared detecting phototransistors for the coin in opto boards for a IGT S plus.

Does anyone have part numbers, specs, or source where I can buy these?

I have 2 boards that keep giving me coin in errors. I'd like to replace these components to see if it repairs my boards.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just out of curiousity, do you have the right coin guide in those optos? And have you cleaned them good with a qtip?

input test,   10_1, 11_1  and 12_1   take out cc-16  put something down in the optics to break the beam, the 1 should change to a 0, press the white button on the optic board when in 11_1 it should toggle.  if 10_1 doesn't change  remove the SM transistor, probably will solve the problem.

Thanks for the reply Mark,

I'm actually looking for just the transmitter and emitter components, not the entire assembly.

I really never got into trying to find out exactly what the optic component specs were on coin-in optic boards - I just replaced the entire 753-052-10 REV A assembly with a new unit.
One thing for sure, the optics themeselves are not marked or labeled such as for ex. light bulbs other than circuit board locations.

I know one thing though, it is very possible to buy them from electronic outlets such as Mouser.com or Jameco.com but you'd need to first measure your optics with a micrometer to get at least the correct sized transmitter and receiver optics.
However, you need to somehow find out the voltage and amperage of these optics so you don't blow them out once soldered in.

My question would be: How does one determine these voltages easily without optical board specification sheets - to know which ones to buy?

The other thing to keep in mind is that these coin-in optic boards were made at various factories by IGT.
There are quite a few ever so slightly different variations, revisions, and models that came out for the S+.
Many of the coin-in optic boards that I use now are nothing like the boards in the June 18, 1993 edition of the IGT Service & Parts Manual...lol

In the manual, it DOES say that the optic emitters ( DS1-DS2-DS4 ) are of 3.3MW and their part number is 371-003-90.
It doesn't give me any info on the receiver optics though but I don't know how to read schematics too good.

Click on the schematic photo I've downloaded below to make larger if needed.
Hope it helps ya!...>>>
