IGT S-Plus's
« on: February 24, 2017, 06:59:30 PM »
Well, now I'm REALLY in trouble with the wife! I managed  to fix an old Bally's S5500, got hooked, and now I own 3 more IGT S-Plus machines. I'm learning a lot though. Probably gonna have to change out the hopper wheels? Looks like they were set up for silver dollars or something... I'm gonna have to clean my coin acceptors... Following Jim's instructions, I  guess the "eye" isn't seeing the popsicle stick in test 10-1, but it does on test 11 and 12. (I'm assuming I'm testing each eye...The bill validators have power, but don't work, I've got a clear chip, and a chip that's supposed to be used to enable the validator, but I'm still looking for instructions... I would like to thank Jim, and everyone else on here. This site is a veritable wealth of information, and I thank you all for sharing your experiences. Hopefully I can make some progress tonight, and avoid a beating. LOL. I may be asking for some help, but I'd rather wait till I can pay to access some info. Spent all my dough on the machines! A fool and his money... Thanks to all of you.

Just tell her how much you love her and that you did it all for her - maybe that will work.  :garfield:

On the machines that are setup for larger coins you could get tokens that are the same size, easier to find than the real coin and maybe not so costly, plus those big hunks of metal sound pretty cool when they hit the coin tray as it's paying out some winnings. A lot of players miss that sound since casinos went to tickets. I think you can also setup the machine to put winnings to credits, that way you don't have to have anything in the hopper.

If you need some advice or help don't hesitate to ask - that's what NLG is for.   :waving_flag:

You don't have to pay for advice or help. That just helps the site stay up. As Rokgpsman said, possibly tokens or a change if you want. Also here is a post from Knagl about that certain test. It might help you.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Just don't wanna be a free loader. I like to learn new things, and slot machines are it right now... I'll probably see if I can find the right hopper wheels. One for dimes, and one for nickels... The large tokens are EXPENSIVE! As for the wife beating me, I'll be O.K., she didn't get out the frying pan! (yet).

Even though you have a clear and set chip. 98% of the time they are not needed and only add more work getting your settings back in order. Rule of thumb, only clear when there is nothing left or one of us suggests it. Set chip is a little different, If machine is set for $1.00 it can change to .01, .05, .10, .25 and also enable the BV

I've made some progress! (Even though they have the wrong game chips!)
I had the triple diamond going, but it has a weird 870 game chip in it that's
Messed up. Think it was out of another machine or something. Did a bunch
Of research last night, and just gave up for a while. I think I need a burner.
Haha! Just kidding! Wouldn't know what to do with it unless I started a fire
With it!

Thanks for posting that, Dave.  The main point of that is that, at least in my experience, it's possible for a machine to accept coins properly while the 10_1 test doesn't seem to work.  I would not worry about the test results yet until you try to actually insert coins and have issues.

Interesting that your two S+ machines have $0.10 inserts on the glass.  I can't say I've seen an S+ before that operated on dimes.

I presume you're aware of it, but the third picture you posted, the "Thunderbolt" machine, is a Bally game (a 5500, I think, but I'm not a Bally expert), not an IGT S+.

I have! I played a few in Laughlin Nevada about 20 years ago. They were fun to play with teeeeeeny coins.  :propeller:

I played many old mechanical 5 and 10 cent. Also during the 80;s, Atlantic City had quite a few of them. The Old Ladies would take the bus and fill those seats all day.
Thank Ya Thank Ya Very Much.
