Set 019 chip
« on: March 01, 2017, 12:15:33 PM »
Does anyone know where I can get a set 019 chip? I haven't seen any on e-bay or any where. Some progress has been made on my new machines, but this rookie is in over his head... Thanks to all that have been helping me! I feel like an idiot though. I should have done more reading, and less tinkering.

to help you out a little, the S+ machines you have are great machines, once you learn about them you will come to find out that they are pretty easy to maintain.  since you are new to this here is some information that may be helpful. there are two chips in your machine that control the game, paytable and features, etc.  the SP chip and the SS chip.   if you go to Rick's Freq. Asked Questions, you will find the game bible,  find the game you have, 2coin,3coin,5coin,3line, 5line, open up that menu, you will find all the games that are available for that version.  click on your game type (red white and blue),
you will see all the different SS chips available for that game, usually the only thing that is different is the payout percentage, all the other features remain the same.  up on top you will see the word TYPE,  this refers to any special features this game may include, the SP chip is the chip that will contain this feature, in your case, a "0", there is a chart that will explain all the different types and what their specialty is.  so again in your case, there are many different SP chips that will operate a "0" type game, so in selecting a different SP chip that will run your game, you could end up having to use a common SET chip, I.E. a set 015.   so in closing, don't feel locked into one certain set of chips to run you game, there are options.

Hope this makes sense, you can always call.

You don't need to tokenize.  You could just use a regular set chip to enable bill validator (if you have one) and just play the machine with coins and bills.  The token value is only needed if you want to assign a credit value different than the coin denomination.  For example, some of use tokenize our S+ to give 99 credits per coin inserted, it is a handy solution if you don't like to insert coins as you play.  Set19 is kind of rare.  The latest version is set86, but you need SP1137 to work with it.  It is probably easier to switch to something like an SP1271 and forget about the tokenization issue.

You don't have to stick with your SP870, you could just get an SP1271 and replace the Sp870 and have the machine work like a plain S+ usually works.  1 credit per coin inserted and whatever credits per bill inserted based on denomination.

I tried a set 015 chip. It didn't work. Any suggestions on where to get a couple 1271's, or something similar? I'm kinda wary of eBay after some of the things I've read on here... Thanks for the input. Endeavor to persevere! Always been my motto! Lol

Well, a LOT of progress has been made! Played about 3 hours on 3 of the 4 slot machines I've got last night. The wife LOVES them! I've made leaps and bounds understanding how to set the machines up, and other than still not being able to enable the bill validators, (due to not having the 019 set), everything worked very well. I've managed to get my hands on the right PSR, (thanks by the way, you know who you are), and that answered a BUNCH of questions I had about why certain settings weren't working. I'm still toying around with what I want to do as far as my game chips go. If I can find the 019 set, I'll probably stick with the SP870's in two of the S-plus machines.(Triple Diamond and Red White and Blue). Seems like the SP870 has just about every game option there is. (I like options). If I can't find the 019 set, I'm considering SP1137. Although, I have seen a few folks are having some troubles with them. I still have a LOT to learn, but I'm getting there. (For instance, what is the little box mounted above the MPU in my Wild Cherry? Something to do with a progressive set up?)  I'm even thinking about writing a little guide to help people get started. A little primer into some of the language, parts locations and what not, so folk's don't do what I did... I rushed into these slots like a mad man. Bought a clear and set chip, (015) before I read the most important thing for "newbies" on this site... "DON'T CLEAR YOUR S-PLUS SLOT!" In my case, I don't think my bill validators were enabled from the start, but I sure could have saved myself a lot of time and trouble if I'd have just done a little more reading. Apologies for rambling on, I'm just happy that I got to share my new toys with my friends, and that my wife isn't mad at me anymore. I'll be posting some pictures of my slots and game room soon. Thanks again for all the help guys. If the rest of the internet were more like NLG, it would be a better place!

Welcome to the hobby.  Once you "get" the S-plus machines, you get them -- sounds like you've figured them out, so that's good.

The little black box you mentioned is likely a SAS interface box that would have been used to link the machine on a casino network.  It's not needed for home use.

Is this the box you're talking about?
