No Sounds Sizzling 7'S
« on: May 28, 2017, 11:15:14 AM »
Hi- I have no sounds on my Sizzling 7 machine. I have checked the volume knob on the board and set it in the middle. I followed the wires to the speaker. I also tried the normal home use set up instructions in the facts section. That procedure did not give me the same result when I press the white button twice as stated. Any other thoughts?
The game chip is SP 721. The reel chip is SS3343. I'm sure it's a simple set up procedure however I don't know it! LOL.
Thanks in advance.

Couple questions... First did the volume work before, or did you just buy the machine? It's possible your speakers bad. You might try turning the volume knob up and down all the way to clean the contacts inside. This usually helps. Do you hear any static or crackling from the speaker?
Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

Thanks for the reply. I just got the machine so I'm unsure if it worked prior.  I did try to cycle the knob stop to stop a few times. I do not hear anything at all from the speaker.  I did check the dip switch on the board to be sure it was in the "on" position as well. The dip switch set matches my other game, Double Diamond so I assumed it was in the correct position.  I thought I may swap out the speakers as I know the Double Diamond speaker works as it should.

If the speaker wires are easy to get to you can disconnect them and connect to a speaker in your hand, then power up machine to see if you have sound. That will be easier than swapping speakers.

When you followed the speaker wires to the speaker did you see any pinched wires or insulation rubbed off? If a speaker wire is touching metal chassis then that will short out the sound. Also, where does the other end of the speaker wires connect - the source of the sound? There is a sound amp on the mpu board near the blue volume control, and the mpu connects to the motherboard. Do the speaker wires go to the motherboard?

Also, you can remove the mpu board from the machine and take a close look at the blue volume control. Sometimes they get mangled by someone turning them too hard past the stop position. If the volume control is broken it may seem to move correctly but not actually be making connection. Take a real close look at it, post a photo for us to see too.

check the board for the amp chip.....probably a bad cap right next to the chip.
Look at the schematics for the s+  in the archives.

Well I went over everything one more time, Pulled the connectors at the speaker, chased the wires back to the board etc. I carefully inspected the volume control to be sure it was operable. I also checked the dip switch again to be sure it was in the "on" position. Well somehow it was in the "off" position. I was certain I had turned it on before. I changed it to "on" and voila we have sound.  I guess troubleshooting when enjoying an adult beverage can lead to errors! LOL.
Thanks for the help folks.
