3300 Hooper Empty Error- How Can I Tell
« on: September 03, 2017, 07:51:58 AM »
Im never this lucky-- working on the coin path and related items-- got it working.  Put in three coins and BINGO-- hit a large payout.  Of course-- I dont yet have a large supply of coins to feed.  I also found out it is set to payout, rather than credit :-(

From what I read, only way to get past a 3300 error is to either let it complete its payout or use the clear/setup ship method--correct ?

How does one tell what the last payout was-- so I'l know how many coins I'll have to feed through the beast-- or give up and clear the machine which isnt my first choice

The payout should be in window showing how much is left to pay
I would keep feed in the coins until it pays out

What was the line up in the reel glass according to the pay table glass? Also do you have the door shut and latched?

I kept thinking why no payout info and why doesnt it ever stop the 3300 error---  The hopper runs, but over and over about 30-40 coins drop then it stops.  I thought about how the hopper empty feature worked-- its a timing issue--It's told to  run until you dont see the sensor trip for x seconds.
Ah ha !  I checked the coin payout counter.  Even though coins were paying , it wasnt incrementing.
I cleaned the optics of the sensor.  Nope.

I ran the hopper on the bench.  It ran 100s of coins.- so it didnt seem to be jamming

Although it was moving, the coins werent pressing the arm up enough as they went by.  I didnt realize that perhaps the metal roller may need to have an increased diameter to sense a nickel.  I wrapped several layers of tape around it to increase it's diameter.  That was the fix !  Now the nickels move the sensor arm enough to activate the optical sensor and thus count coin pays.

QUESTION-- is there a larger diameter metal roller for the optical sensor arm available for smaller coins ?

Sounds like you need to change out your reels shelf size to match the coins your running. If you are running a smaller Dia shelf wheel, say 50c and swap to running nickels, your going to have payout problems with over payments.

If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

The center wheel looks as if it keeps the coin as far up between the coin wheel's fingers as intended.  Its a nickel coin wheel.

I'd rather not leave the tape on the roller .  I figure after a while it will get gooey.  If there isnt a larger roller and if  that's the fix so be it.

the easiest way to determine if you have the correct shelf wheel, put a coin on the shelf wheel, the nickel should be within 1/16  inch of the edge of the pin wheel.

the roller should  be removed for home use, it and the cover was to protect the optic from being hit with a laser pen from outside the machine.  remove the screw holding the roller assembly, now attach the "U" shaped optic where the roller was mounted, make sure the screw does not interfere with the pin wheel operation.  now the coin will go directly through the optic and be counted and sent out to the coin tray.

problem solved.

hope this helps

Jim

The roller is only made in one size.. Can you post a picture of your hopper and coin wheel?
