Bally 809 - Need info on bell and light circuit
« on: September 27, 2017, 12:55:27 PM »
Hi all,
I was the lucky recipient of what I believe is a Bally 809 3 coin single line 25 cent machine. I am not sure if it is possibly an 831. There is a set of progressive reels in the top but it looks like most of the wires have been cut. I am going through the switches and the wiring but can't figure out the bell circuit and the jackpot light. There are a lot of cut wires and different wire colors taped together making the process a little more difficult. I figured out most of the wiring issues and basically got the machine to work but would like to get the bell and jackpot light working. Can anyone shed some light on the circuitry and which switch controls that function. I did a lot of searching on here but couldn't find any info on that particular problem. I searched "Old Reno's" posts and found a manual but am not able to download it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris

Can you include a couple of photos of the machine and the interior wiring. Perhaps one of our viewers can then offer assistance.

First test the Bell and Jackpot light to see if they work. One side of the circuit on both of these is 6 volts AC.
If you can safely determine the 6 volt side which eventually leads back to a solid blue wire. Then you could apply a jumper from a solid yellow wire opposite side of the bell connection and it should ring. Same with the light, apply the yellow wire jumper to the opposite side of the of the light.
The bell and top light usually have a solid red leading back to the 6 volt blue circuit. Most of the time they are linked together.
Some machines have been wired to sound the bell every time there is a payout. Others for the larger payouts only.
The schematic shows the red wire leaving the #1 reel disc and makes its way to the bell circuit. See photos.
When looking at the bell wires most likely one of the like wires will continue to the top light.

Will try to post a video on tracing out and jumping wire for testing.
