Looking for some advice on a gaming project
« on: December 07, 2014, 10:04:42 AM »
Ok im going to try to explain this the best i can. I'm building a 3 sided game machine. one side will have an arcade (this is already done and i have parts) the other two sides i want to have video slots for the wife. The reason behind having 2 is giving her an option of games to play. the cabinet will be easy enough as i have access to all the MDF i could ever need and a beautiful CNC Router.

Where i need help is figuring out what systems i should use. I want something that i can swap games on fairly easy. Once we figure out what system to use i will need a list of parts (the boards i need to make it work) and either a place to buy wiring harnesses or a pin-out/schematic whitepaper so i can fabricate my own!

i have looked around but i have really been unable to find info on building your own machine here.

I would really appreciate any help and advice you guys might have, most of you seem really knowledgeable in the field, so i thank you in advance and look forward to getting this project moving forward!!!!! :hail:

Thanks,  :thank_you:

John

Are you thinking about slot machine software running on a pc, like a MAME setup?  Or a full size slot machine that sits in your game cabinet? A full size slot machine can weigh 250 pounds or more. One of the popular slot games is video poker, it can be run on an LCD screen, just need a few buttons for operating the game (Deal, Draw, etc) and a small pc board.

My thinking was that by stripping as it were, there would be little to no heavy steel in the rig. and at worst, i would build the lower on some heavy duty 300lb casters.

the actual weight is of secondary concern really. once its in place it will rarely ever be moved.

Thank you for the thought :)
