Depending on which game maker your talking about, Spin has a plug n' play harness with vga cable output for a V7200 series. I bought one for $14 + shipping and it worked great. I have a V7000 so I had to cut and solder the plug from that machine in place of the V7200 plug that came on it but it was super easy since everything is color coded. I've tried using a regular computer lcd monitor as you wish to do and the picture quality is great but I'm having a problem with the the screen resolution. Currently the picture is too big for the monitor and the left 1/3 of the display runs off the screen. Although I know changing the resolution will fix it I cannot change it with the monitors menu and the game maker itself has no setting for screen size adjustment of course. It's an issue that I'm not sure can be circumvented. Still working on it....

Dang you're lucky, I wish mine worked like that. What monitor did you use? A dell 15" monitor is the only one a could find that would fit inside mine but I've been thinking that a different monitor may solve my display problem.

Here is the  backplane pinout I used on my GameMaker. Just look up the" VGA 15 pinout on line" and connect V, H , red, blue,SNC, ext. With this done you can hook up just about any VGA monitor to you GameMaker.  Good Luck... I just cut a VGA cable from an old Monitor.
