Please help - a mouse ate through my wiring harness
« on: January 03, 2018, 07:26:17 PM »
Please... I need some assistance figuring out what and how to piece back together some wiring in my IGT upright gameking machine. Due to some life circumstances, it had to sit out in an outbuilding for a year with the front door off.  I've inspected all wiring and the damage appears to be mainly around the main door connection bundle that goes to the coin comparator module and the comparator.  I have taken pictures and would like help addressing each issue.  I'm not a machine expert although I understand the gist of the major components and have an electronics background (but I work as a computer geek).  If there are complete parts that I can order instead of splicing in replacement wires, I can if you can let me know what part number I need to look for - or if I just need to cut lengths of wire, solder and heat-shrink lengths back into place, I can do that too if I can understand what is suppose to go where.

Looking at the Overview-annotated picture
Problem 1 -This was a bundle of wires that plugged into the white connector.  Looks like a lot of orange, black, and red
Problem 2 - Missing wires into what I think is called the coin comparator module
Problem 3 - This is a weird one. The big bundle of wires that goes to all of the pushbuttons is mostly ok. In fact all of the wires going to the pushbuttons themselves seems to be ok, but there is a group of wires as shown that I'm not sure where they are suppose to go. Did them form a plug that is suppose to go into the plug shown in Problem 4?
Problem 4 - This is a plug receptacle with no plug or wires. Its on the bill acceptor piece that you can see has those LED's on it. I'm actually not sure what the function of that is - if it is suppose to light up depending on which denomination was inserted or what.

I just google searched for igt coin comparator wiring pigtail and that looks like that would help alot. It has the big white connector and some other connectors.  What model of that do I need to look for specifically and if I get that, will that solve all my problems from looking at the pictures?

Thanks for any guidance you can give me!!!

Frickin' mice.  I hate them!

I think it would be easier and better just to replace all the damaged wiring instead of trying to repair it.  If the damage is limited to the door wiring it shouldn't be too bad.  Get a hold of Ken (Ohio Gaming), he may be able to supply the wiring harnesses you need.
