I push the menu button nothing happens. But if I disconnect the video plug it say no video

This puzzles me a bit.  There's instructions on the side of your monitor.  I can't read them all because it is cut off.  Try following them with the video cable disconnected and see what happens.  What doesn't make sense to me is that you get a "no video" error message when the video cable is disconnected, but no menu when the menu button is pushed.  Post a couple of pictures of the entire monitor if you can.

If I plug monitor in bypassing gk power without video hooked up it say no video and shuts off. When powered thru machine it never says anything nor does the button on monitor due anything. I’m going to check battery tonight. Not sure if a dead battery keep machine from booting up.

So you're saying that you can power the monitor on a bench and get a "no video" and then it disappears correct?  You have a Kortek LCD monitor and most of those have a green LED at the top of the LCD on the button panel.  It should come on solid green when you turn it on and it's displaying "no video", and then blinks on and off when the "no video" box disappears correct?

Now when the monitor is powered by the machine does the green LED come on at all?

Your MPU will still boot with a dead battery, and yours it booting up to a point.  The MPU controls the candle and it would not blink if the MPU didn't tell it to.

EDIT:  While waiting to hear from you on whether your monitor power LED lights up in the machine I experimented with my Game King with a Kortek LCD monitor.  My monitor will not display a menu when I press the menu button until it has a video signal present.  That's helps explain why yours doesn't either, it appears to be normal behavior for a Kortek monitor.

Your battery is on the low side, but I don't think it's responsible for your blank video problem.  Unless you have a really ancient laptop, your resolution would be too high for the monitor to display.  I think they only support VGA (640X480) resolution.

OK, so the monitor is getting power through the game since the LED lights.  Does the power LED on the monitor stays on continuously or blink?

Try this.  Power off the machine and remove the MPU board.

Turn the machine on with MPU removed..  The LCD LED light should come on steady and a small box should say "NO VIDEO CONNECTION".  After a few seconds that box should disappear the LED begins blinking on and off.

Let me know if that's what yours does.

While the MPU board is removed look at the connectors when the MPU board plugs into the motherboard.  Make sure none of those pins are bent.   You can also look at connector J5 on the motherboard.  That's the monitor connection.  Make sure it's fully seated.

Yes I did that and that’s what happens.
When the machine is on the power green power light stays on solid. With out the MPU it does exactly what you said  NO video connection

I have checked all the connections couldn’t see anything out of the norm

Ok.  I found a document that said the 17" LCD supports up to 1280X1024.  So I said what the hell and grabbed a VGA cable and hooked my slot laptop up to the LCD.  It's a dell so I had to hit Function + CRT/LCD to get video out of the VGA connector on the back of the laptop.  Sure enough the game LCD displayed it.  Here's a picture at 800X600.  It worked at 1280X1024 as well.  I didn't have to change any setting on the LCD.  So if you have a male/male VGA cable hook it up and see if you get a display.

Also can you take a picture of those instructions on the side of your monitor?

Sounding more like a board problem or software problem? Have you checked to see if all your eproms are installed facing the correct direction, and that there are no bent or broken legs on any chips? It looks like you have a 17" cabinet. The monitor should flash different colors, Red, Blue, Green while the machine boots up. When you turn the power on do you hear the fans come on? There is 1 or 2 large fans, and a smaller fan on the right side of the MPU tray.. All it takes is one pin somewhere not making a connection..

Oops my mistake. That 17" cabinets yours Tilt..

Yeah checked all that. Fans come on. I bought it from a kid who inherited it from his grandma. Says she hit a jack pot and screen went blank. I take that with a grain of salt the kid was like 12

Yeah, kind of sounds that way.  Did you change the screen resolution on your computer to 1280x1024 or below?

I'm still curious as to what the entire warning message on the side of your monitor says.  It's in reference to using the auto-scale button, which is something your may want to try.   Nothing really to lose at this point it would seem.   If that doesn't do anything to help then I'd start looking for another A/D converter board for your monitor.

Puckhead did say in post #18 that he believed there was a bad cap on the board and even gave the location and size cap it is.

After reading that warning on the label, makes me wonder if that's what's wrong with your monitor?
