I was browsing through my local Craigslist and I saw some pachislo machines on sale. They were 50 dollars each and they were in "working condition". I decided to contact the seller to see if I could buy one. I checked my mail this morning and I haven't heard anything yet. The weird part is that when I checked the listing again this morning, I got a message that "The Lisitng has Been delated by the author". What should I make of that? I feel very confused at the moment and I will keep you updated, thanks

I'm guessing they sold
A more nefarious explanation would be they were fishing for active email addresses

Good point, they were listed two days ago. And it would be a bummer if they were fishing for emails

I have a seperate email with no listed contacts that I use just for online purchases from sh#tholes like craigslist. That way if they hack it there's nothing there at risk for me

That is a really good idea, I'm now wondering how you can tell if somoenone is a scam by gut feeling or if something doesn't do feel quiet right?

It's easy, don't trust anyone where money is involved with the internet and always protect yourself

"The Lisitng has Been delated by the author"

I peddle a lot of old hot rod parts via craigslist.

In reply to your specific question once a part is not for sale anymore I'll cancel the listing.  If you happen to have bookmarked that listing and you go to revisit the post, that is the message you will receive on the web page.  There is nothing devious going on.

Someone listed some machines cheap at $50, they sold right away and he deleted his post.  They are sold and gone end of story, you were too slow.

Once I end a listing I do not go back and reply to any messages that have come in.  That sounds like what happened to you.

I like casinos and I love slot machines
I lost a fortune, if you know what I mean
Those one armed bandits was the wrong thing to choose
A man with nothing ain't got nothing to lose

Yeah, as I stated in my first post it's most likely the machines sold, ad came down and seller choose not to contact anyone who inquired afterward which is kinda chickenshit in my personal opinion. Anyway, there are people out there with less than honorable intentions looking to take advantage of people that don't fully understand how these thing work. So my advice is to make sure your ass is protected whenever you use quality service providers such as craigslist that NEVER have a problem with spammers trying to steal from people. Not to mention people that get killed or robbed when they meet somewhere for a sale.
Just be careful and cover your ass. If it feels wrong it probably is...

Just one man's experienced opinion

It drives me nuts when people are so damn lazy they don't delete their posts on Craigslist. You used to be able to flag the ads with a specific reason and they seemed to get deleted quicker. Now I don't think you can really can "flag to death" ads... they just stay there until the 30 days or however long until they self delete.
Once someone had a nice 60's mechanical Mills slot that had sold but they wouldn't remove the ad. So I just kept sending them messages asking "is it available?"  :rotfl: They finally deleted it.

[the] seller choose not to contact anyone who inquired afterward which is kinda chickenshit in my personal opinion.

Just curious, am I being "chickenpoop" or careful?

I take buyers/contacts first come first served till the item is gone. When the item is gone I delete the ad as well as any contacts received after the buyers contact.  You said it yourself to protect your e-mail addy from address collectors.  IMHo once the ad is gone the item is no longer for sale and you [the buyer] will know that once you see the post no longer exists, was deleted buy the seller.

That is craigslist and craigslist is craigslist and not NLG!

You and I may have never chatted before but I feel like we are friends just because I might have read a post of yours before and/or recognize your avatar. Big difference between craigslist and NLG.  Our footprint remains here on NLG.  Thank goodness for NLG!

Not sure, a lot happens on here, especially after years and it's hard to recall sometimes.
Most of my experience with CL is selling, where 9 of 10 responses or more were people wanting to have it shipped to them on terms I expressly forbid in my ads. My terms are cash or paypal and only within 500 miles. I made it very clear.
In your case, anyone responding obviously actually saw your ad because you pulled it as soon as the item sold, so why not reply and tell them it's gone, but thanks for looking? Obviously there's people who would appreciate it or this topic would have gotten started.
Ultimately, all I'm trying to say is that when shopping on the internet, especially places like CL, a person needs to do their due diligence and be careful. You may live in an area where this isn't a big concern, but a lot of people don't. Better safe than sorry and yes, thank god we have NLG!

Pashilos are not expensive. You can get them for $25-$500 - if I remember spin-2-you-win was the "hot" game as it had a wheel of fortune like top. I bought 2 in Cost-Co for $75 in 2005 in PA. Gave both away to friends when I moved to Canada.

Check out the Pachi-talk forum as they usually know who has them and where they are being sold, and typical prices.

Unlike vegas style machines these are pretty much appliances that don't give you many modification options. The key ones are changing from "metals" (Japanese word for Tokens) to quarters and putting on a spring loaded slot arm. For my 2c - These are Japanese machines and should be kept stock. IF you want a NorthAmerican (Vegas style) machine, quarters, Tito, slot arms - buy a Vegas machine.

This is not to say that the Pachilos are not fun - they are, but they are different.
If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.
