So when the game is running. It will come up in the middle of playing. It will say reel 3 bad optic. It will go back online sometimes. Do I need to get a new reel for this?  :Scratch-Head:

I think each reel has a circuit board that controls the spinning. On this board is an infrared optic (light) sensor pair. As the reel spins a clip or other part on the reel will pass thru the optic pair and block the light once per revolution of the reel. This way the machine knows where the home position of the reel is and can stop the reel at the proper position. Anyway, your optic sensor on that reel circuit board may be flaky, or just dirty. You can try cleaning it. The optic pair is made up of an optic tx and nearby is the optic rx. Below is an example, yours will not be exactly like this but it will give you an idea. They are usually encased in black plastic, with a gap between the 2 optic parts.

If it continues to act up you can try replacing the reel #3 circuit board with a new one, or swap reel boards with the one from reel #2 and see if the problem moves to reel #2, that will confirm that the board is bad.

You can also inspect the reel #3 reel basket (round frame that spins) and make sure the optic sensor clip attached to it that passes thru the optic sensor is not damaged. You can compare it to reel #2 to see if it is the same.
