Can I get some advice? RE: WMS and Aristocrat
« on: May 29, 2016, 06:20:58 PM »
Hi everyone,
It has been a long time since I have been here. Bought my first slot machine awhile back and kind of "mastered" it (a S2000). I am now wanting to learn about Aristocrats and WMS machines as I have no idea about them, but I love to learn. I am here to ask for opinions and advice on what I should do as good ole Uncle Sam has given me a nice refund to spend on some machines. My plan is to buy a WMS BB2 complete, but want to be able to change games from time to time.
I also am buying a older Buffalo Stampede machine. What are the possibilities with this machine to change games?
Please advise me if you think I should be purchasing something else that will be more flexible with game changes, or if I am on the right path. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance! :thank_you:

At the moment, and in my opinion, there's no better platform for home and to change games than a WMS BB2 cabinet.  I can't say much about Aristocrat, but most people I know stay away from that platform.  Mainly because parts are a bit harder to come by.  I know for WMS and Bally alpha, you can get parts all day long as well as games.  Just go to e-bay and do a search for WMS and Bally.  Then do one for Aristocrat and you will see what I mean.  The BB2 cabinet can be easily converted to run BB3 software as well, just need a BB3 MPU, a power harness, and an emotive controller to play the newer bb3 blade games.

I have an interest in the newer Aristocrat machines (Veridian MKVII), and I am hoping that someday i will be able to find one for a reasonable cost.  But the older stuff, I'm not particularly fond of.

So I have been up all night searching and searching and the more I read, the more confused I get. Do I want a BB2 with DUAL screen? What type of BB@ should I get? I love colossal reel games and I also love games like AIRPLANE. :Scratch-Head: HELP! LOL !

You want a BB2 cabinet with dual 22inch monitors.  The cabinets with standard games are either going to be a transmissive machine, the the 3 or 5 reels and the transmissive monitor with either a 22" monitor on the top box, or an animator like Alice or Goldfish 2.  If you get a video cabinet, it will come with the dual 22" screens.  Either way, you can convert one to the other rather easily, just swap monitors and remove reels if you have them.

Colossal reels use dual 22 inch monitor cabinets.  Airplane should work as well.

Here's a photo of what you want for those type games.

The MK6 to MK7 conversion kit works really well.I love mine.MK6 machine are pretty cheap to buy right now.You just have to make sure its a dual monitor machine which is needed to do the conversion.Uses the same molex connectors as the MK6.
The nice thing about the conversion is you can run the older "legacy" software (Miss Kitty,Buffalo, ect) or run the newer stuff (Wicked Winnings III,Magic Princess,Kick n Ass,ect) .
Very versatile board.

The games I'm interested in running are the Sky Riders and the Storm Queen series.  Do they work on the conversions?

It should run most NON widescreen Mk7 programs. If the programs are newer than 2012 I would say probably no.
Would be a good idea if you can check a par sheet to see if those titles will run in a narrow screen machine.
This conversion wont run any widescreen games...will come up with a error while booting.
Hope that helps.
