Bally 5000 +
« on: April 25, 2017, 10:26:29 PM »
Hi, I picked up a 5000 +  the guy I bought it from said there was a 82 error  . Brought it home, checked batt. It was at 1 volt so changed it, checked all connections,  it took the quarters, pushed start , all 3 reels spun , 1st one stopped , then about 10 seconds later 2 and 3 stopped , then all 3 turned slow. A  41....reel 2 error  came up . I pulled out the upper board, turned it on , it cleared no problem.  All connections were checked. I also took reel out and checked connection inside the reel could I have bad sensers . Not sure what to do. Any ideas ..thank you...

It could be your power supply is failing.
Check it's voltages in the machine to see.
The 24VDC would be the one powering the reels.
See the attached page.

Thanks , I will check that tomorrow.  I did notice the board inside reel 2 was a little dark in a spot. Could it get that warm. Thanks...

Try that, also unplug and plug in the connectors on the reel driver board under the reels a couple of times.
Dirty pins could be the problem.

Hi, well I unplugged  the pins going to the reel board  for reel  1 2 3  about 10 times and it is working now. They actually  work better only pushed in 3/4 of the way in. That's kinda strange?  do I need the key pad to change the sound setting?  I see in the manual there is different  sound options. Also the lights for the  collect credits, play max credits, and play one credit don't light up. Burnt out?  Do I need the key pad to change from credits to non credits. In the manual it says how to do it but also mentions the pad...thank you...

I posted a sticky on how to make your own keypad but you could post a WTB to see if someone will sell you one.

Hi thanks....I am  getting code 41 back so I put reel 2 wires in reel 3 plug and reel 3 wires in reel 2 plug and no error came up. Of course the pay didn't jive correctly cause they were switched around . Could d it possibly be one of the wires going from the reel board by the motor to the board under the reels. Should I check each wire end to end to see if there is a break in one of the lines. That's weird that no error came up when I switched 2 and 3 around. Is it because now 2 was the last one to stop and no error   could acurre? When I do a test, 1 and 3  seem to be normal but 2 seems to take longer. Thanks...

If you have the IDC (insulation displacement connection, where the wire is wedged between two blades) type of connectors going to your reel driver board it may be a good idea to get a small flat blade screwdriver and shove every wire into it's connection.

If you have a Molex KK100 type of connector you can pop each pin out and clean it with a pink eraser then spread it apart and reinsert. Make sure the keeper tab is spread back out before inserting.

Thanks, I will try that . That's funny how it will work fine for 30 min. Then a 41 pops up.
