SG 300 Free-N-Easy (maybe not so easy?)
« on: February 01, 2015, 01:42:35 PM »
Hi All,

Need some help please.
Got this Free-N-Easy Sigma SG-300 and this is what it does and doesn't do.
It turns on and lights up. There are a few LEDs on the upper wheel that need replacing.

The reels spin slowly and stop

The display says:
Now Self Testing
Please Wait
(sometimes it goes nowhere from here. I just turn the machine on and off again and it says the same thing but continues to the next step)

The display says:
RAM Data is Wrong
Turn On-Off Reset SW
(turning the key continues to next step)

The display says:
Turn Reset Key
On-Off Two Times
(turning the key twice continues to next step)

The display says:
Game Loading
Please Wait

The reels spin fast and stop in there home position I believe.
Blue 7  Blue 7  White 7

All looks good at this point and it is ready to play
Winner Paid shows 0 and says, "Insert Coin"
The machine accepts up to 3 quarters. Registers each coin and make a sound.
The Spin button is lit up but does nothing when pressed.
I've replaced the switch, No change.
I've replaced the SG88 Distribution Board. No change
I've checked the voltage and voltages are what they are supposed to be.
I've tried the RAM clear and doesn't seem to change anything.

Was hoping for a comment or suggestion.
Thanks much,

Todd

Photos part 2

The second photo is what I get by turning the reset key.
Pressing the (Cash Out) button returns it ready to play mode.
Pressing (Spin Reels) button does nothing.

It's got to be an easy fix???

Go into the programming mode and see if all the button are working...If not, most likely you MPU has issues like the driver chips for the switches...

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for suggesting this. Here's what I've discovered:
With the machine in Programming mode, all buttons do what they are supposed to do except the (Spin Reels/Repeat Bet/Play Wheel) button.
I can toggle back and forth through all the menu headings but pressing the (Spin Reels/Repeat Bet/Play Wheel) button does nothing. It is lit up but won't select any options.
I did change out the switch but nothing improved.
What do you suggest?

Thanks,

Todd

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!

I don't believe it.
The switch was bad.
Apparently the replacement switch was bad too.
The third switch works!!!!!!!!
Thank you Jimmy.
Your menu comment got me wondering why all the other buttons worked but not this one.
I checked the wiring diagram from Module 6 in my Sigma SG-300 book and the wires checked out.
I knew it had to be a simple fix.
Just needs a bill validator and replace 5 tiny LEDs on the upper wheel and it will be perfect.
I'm so happy. One down, two to go.

CDS Easy Street (Needs Battery & Birthing Chips)
VLC Winning Touch (Needs Touch Monitor Replaced)

Later,

Todd

GREAT!...Good luck with the other two...The CDS is a b+tch!...You will need to find out what version you have if you don't know already as there are birthing chips for every version...As far as the VLC, if you know you don't need the birth chips, post a WTB ad for the monitor...They are hard to find, but they are out there...

Hi Mark,

Thanks so much,
I had problems sending you an e-mail so I sent a PM instead.
I could really use these books.
The VLC Winning Touch model 8825 machine has a damaged CRT and below is what the replacement LCD screen says.
It won't do anything. I'll have to start a new posting on it.
The CDS machine has the system error message which Buzz and Jimmy are attempting to help me.
The Sigma Free N Easy SG-300 Plays for a while and eventually freezes up with the 'self testing' message.
Even though it's got a fresh battery, when powered down and back up, all credits and programming is erased.
Pull handle solenoid isn't activating and the bill validator is off-line too - still researching these.
Anyway, Appreciate any and all help.
Thanks,

Todd
