eMotion video runs slow, lags...
« on: May 07, 2017, 07:32:40 AM »

I have an eMotion cabinet that ran just like it was suppose to...

Not being able to leave things alone I wanted to do a game change.  Did a clear.  Installed the new game eproms.  Set up the game.  The game was working just fine as I ran through the first $50...

I walked away and let the cabinet sit idle for an hour or so.  When I went back to play off another $50 the game had slowed down.  What I mean by slow down is when you press a button it would lag for a few seconds before the video reels would spin.  Then once it was finished spinning it would again lag before it displayed your win or allow you to play on.

Hmmm, bizarre...

So I shut down the slot machine...

The next day fired it back up once again...

Now it plays with a delay.  It takes money just fine.  Press the play button and there is a lag before the video reels spin.  Once it spins it spins like it is suppose to.  When the reels stop there is a lag once again before it displays the results, your win or game over.  It's like the slot needs to think for a while before it knows what to do?  It will not play on until it gets past the lag and displays your win or game over, pressing buttons does nothing.

Just FYi I did not swap out the BIOS chip when I did the game change.  I do believe that the BIOS chip in the cabinet is newer/more current than the BIOS that came with the new game chips.

If this were a computer [which it kinda is] I might swap out the memory sticks to eliminate that as a problem.  At least rotate them if there are more than one stick?

Anyone else have an idea???

As a side note the old game used a security dongle/cube.  It is pretty obvious how the cube is installed on the board.

The new game uses a 8 pin chip.  There is no designation how to orient the chip on the game board.  Does it make a difference how the security chip is installed and can that cause a game play lag.  Am I missing a marking on the security chip that designates how it is supposed to be installed?

Just a FYi all the game eproms have the little half circle mark on the chip and on the game board to designate how they are to be installed.
