What is this Universal machine???
« on: September 01, 2016, 09:29:37 AM »
Howdy All,
I'm only familiar with older 8116 board Universal machines. I just picked up & it looks to be an Ulta Series with no bak lit reels, but I have not clue? It has a 94015 board used only for Utlta & it has a power supply that I've never seen. before. The reels are not back lit nor is there a harnes for such. It has never had a bill acceptor attached & has a mechanical coin mech & coin reject coil. It also only has one single speaker in the lower door. The glass says "Slots of Luck" on each piece & there is no Unversal tag on the outer cabinet. Where the tag should be was a blank metal stick on with a "Slots of Luck" sticker with address sales, rentals repair etc, with phone number etc in Phoneix, AZ? It has the nudge feature & is exactly like an IGT Double Diamond Deluxe. The LED panel is above as shown & it also has a Reserved light on it & a Reserved button whatever that is? Has anyone ever see one of these or know if this is an Ulta with no back lit reels setup?
I also need some help with a few things on it & will start a different topic for them
Thanks,
Dan

NEVER seen one of those!

Looks like an Aussie machine. That power supply looks like an Aussie power supply, not 110v, but believe can be converted and this one obviously has.

A lot of it is Universal like the hopper reel assy and reelmotors, board, cabinet style and door, coin tray & is stamped Universal, reset panel etc.. I want to put a new battery on the board because it hadn't been used in about 10 years when I picked it up. I haven't pulled the board out yet as I don' t want to mess with it not knowing anything about it. It works great aside the Humm that I'm almost sure is the noise filter. It sounds exactly like the red dot do when the filter goes bad. It looks at least 80% universal to me except the power supply & the upper LED display. I haven't been in the top unit yet. Strange & very curious what it is. I'll take some more pics of the inside & also the inside of the PS next time I have it opened. Also oddly it pays an inch below the payline. They said when it was used 10 years back it paid on the payline? They are solidly installed so they did not move since originally installed, strange. I guess I'll need to remove & move the reel strips to correct it

Here are a few pics of the board. The battery & chips are on the daughter piggyback? Before I pulled the board out I just assumed it was a 94015 due to the ribbon connection in the front from Uniman pics in another post, but It looks to be something else? The only number I see on it is shown in the second piture 8600-A2F. I don't have a clue

The 8600 is an Aussie board. One of the chips on the daughter is like an ecryption chip. Aussies have special requirements for their machines, not exactly sure what they are.

It's a Universal machine complying with Australian rules. They used the 8600 board there and maybe South Africa?
Universal sold machines all over the world.
In Australia IGT did not have patents on their game designs so Universal copied IGT games and sold them in Australia. That game looks like an IGT design.

Hi guys thanks for posting this thread it has been very insightful.

I have just picked up a machine this week and it has the exact same inners, however mine lights up but does not run.

I am from Australia and getting any info or support out hear is darn near impossible.

Here are some photos of my machine , if you have managed to find an manual for this machine, I would be greatful to know where I could buy one.

If you have any tips on where I should start with fault finding, I would be greatly appreciative . Thanks again

I have the same board however I don't seem to have that larger piggy backed board . I am in Australia and cant gt my machine to work. Perhaps it is that piggy bagged board on yours that bypasses the security lock on most aussy boards?
