Post by: Nepa Coin Op on January 06, 2019, 12:49:39 PM
I have a few Garfields here, all were giving a cdrom eprom mismatch error ..... was told a clear and setup would get this back up and running .... I do a clear, says on the bios screen “Dallas clear completed” reboot with game sw in .... it boots back up checks cd ect after that I’m still getting cdrom/eprom do not match ....
I have a few of these 1 was working till I started mixing and matching parts to troubleshoot the others now none work... .... any help is greatly appreciated

I got one to the point it boots and asks for clear chip...... what’s the procedure for using the clear on these ??

Thank you

This is from the Manual for clear chip procedure. You will need a CLEAR EPROM...I have not seen on for some time now...Clearing RAM electronically erases electronic meters. This information is permanently lost when RAM is cleared. If needed record meter information before clearing RAM. Cabinet settings return to factory defaults. Turn off machine power. Locate the controller PCB at main PCB location J16. Use an EPROM removal tool to unseat the BOOT EPROM. Place the ALL CLEAR EPROM in the vacated slot. Turn on machine power. The boot sequence begins and various messages display. After a short time, the message Dallas ALL Clear Handler (ALLCLR V#.##) Executing displays. The meters are cleared (reset to zero) and cabinet settings return to defaults. When the message Dallas ALL Clear Complete displays, turn off machineRemove the ALL CLEAR EPROM and replace with the BOOT EPROM turn on machine power. Verify meters are cleared. Reset cabinet settings if desired.

The photo is directly out of the manual...Do you have one?...I assume the clear chip replaces the BOOT chip...I can send you a copy if you need it...
