Title: T5 Fluorescent Tube Holder/Socket
Post by: OldUKGuy on March 08, 2019, 11:09:03 AM
To add to my woes with bulbs, I needed to replace the connectors/holders/sockets on the 8" tube that illuminates the reels in my Bally 742a.

On one side at some point in the past the original black Bakelite/Plastic tube holder on the left, had been lost and replaced with a pair of screw terminals which were probably removed from a cut down Termination strip, the one on the right was taped up.

I've searched Amazon, eBay UK and eBay.com in the US but can't see anything that matches the original black fittings.

I bought some of the ones that predominate in the marketplace - white plastic with a green rotating connector slot for the tube's pins to fit into, but they are too big all around.

Anyone got any idea where I might get a pair of sockets to replace the black ones?

I've attached photos of the screw terminals that were used, an example of the Bakelite holder that I need (in this example it's the ones behind the belly glass) and the typical holders that I have found on line that are too big.

Many thanks from the UK

I’m sure I have some here some where. Not sure what shipping will cost from Michigan to the UK? This is another source for EM parts.

Hi Mechanic

It would be great if you have some, a small Jiffy bag and regular airmail would be fine for me - don't need next day express or anything like that.

If you find some let me know and if you have a PayPal account, I can pay you that way.

Thanks very much.

I'm not a Facebook user, although following that link did display multiple pages; maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and sign up.

Jon has just about any thing you might need for the early EM Slots.

IF you are going to have any kind of collection, and you WILL because you are obviously infected by the EM Bug like us, then you might want a small stash of parts.  Many many EM machines were made in Dublin on your side of the pond.  You might want to look for a door with the terminals in good condition and lots of other pieces that may come in handy.  It many even be more cost effective than an overseas package that weights as much as a hummingbird.  Just a suggestion.

My opinion is free and worth every penny.

Hi Ra

Good thought, although Dublin is still in a different country to Margate in England, but I get what you mean.

Eyes will be peeled for spares/breaking machines.

With some offline guidance from Mark, I've got the belly glass tubes working now, so that just leaves the reel glass one.

As long as you are getting taken care of  thats what counts.  You will be up and fully running with 6 games in no time. :rotfl:
