Title: Determining Wire Color to Schematics
Post by: Green5 on October 01, 2020, 06:59:43 PM
Question, how can I correlate the color of the video wire to the number associated in the schematics?
I can assume the Red, Green Blue is 6, 5, 4.
So that would mean Black & White would have to be Horizontal & Vertical Sync or 1 & 2. (Two extra wires are Black & White)

But which is which?
&
How can you tell?

Unfortunately, there's really no standard to wire color.  You would think there would be, but you would be wrong.  While there is SOME guidelines, not everybody follows them.  So I would not guide myself by wire color, I ALWAYS use a meter to test voltages if I don't have schematics.  For your situation, I would look for definite schematics that label which pin is which.

In my experience with these machines, Red, Green, and Blue wires are Red, Green, and Blue signal respectively. Yes the black and white are Horizontal sync and Vertical sync, try them one way and of it doesn't work try the other, it won't break anything it just won't work. I will look on my machine when I get home.
