Title: Wms BB2 button configuration question
Post by: Phan000 on May 23, 2023, 04:04:18 PM
New to me BB2

Powers up, loads game, “selected  button panel does not match” error when game is fully loaded.
It also sometimes states “please wait, configuring button panel”.

There are 13 OLED buttons, probably in poor shape.

Buttons do register when using diagnostic test.

Current game is “country girl”.

What button setting should this be on?

It was originally on usb OLED, but there is an error on that as well.

The button panel should be auto-selected for you (although you can manually change it, don't).  If it continues to give you the error, try another usb cable.  What OS are you using?  Configuring button panel is usually displayed when the OS is trying to flash the firmware on the button panel.

The OS is SSSG-000-16F1

I tried swapping the USB cord with a brand new one.  Also tried a different usb input.

The machine did crash once when booting and  had a “halting I/O error”

Perhaps the HD is going bad and causing errors?

I would swap oled panel if you have another one to isolate the issue.

If when changing the cable, on top of the MPU unit, there are other USB ports you could try plugging your USB cable into?

Maybe the present one it's plugged into is a bad, worn-out port?

I tried an alternate usb port.

I have another bb2 with a functioning Oled button panel.

Can swap them to test.  Was hoping it wasn’t the panel itself, as that would be a big expense.

The led lights on the board for the panel.

Would a clear help at all?   Could a few bad buttons cause this?

Put in a new hard drive and did a clear.  Worked.  For a few days.
