Title: Bally 804H slot machine coin in
Post by: PatrickLewis.net on May 23, 2023, 05:07:11 PM
I have cleaned all of the contacts on the switches.  The machine will accept a coin, but reset the coin counter each time.  If I hold the coin switch down, it will advance to 2 coins, but when I let go, it will reset it and go back to one.

Also, it will not allow me to pull the handle to spin the reels.  Which part should I look at.

Please include where this is as I am not sure what each set of switches does.

THanks.

make sure the coin relay is tripping.

it's on the only relay on the left side of the reel mech.  It's electrically tripped by the coil and mechanically reset during the spin.

This might helpful, see attachment.
You can manually latch and un-latch the coin relay solenoid armature assembly.
Check the contacts in both positions for continuity in the closed position.
Also, make sure the contacts are not making contact in there normally open position.

I have the coins now working.  Thanks for the help.

Final item is getting it to pay out.  It is not payout out on any reel combination that should, so it sounds like a single point of failure.  I manually depressed the payout relay and reinserted the hopper.  It started to payout immediately with a winning reel combo.

Are the resistors on the relay a good point of failure for this?

I tried jumping the relay off the main power and it would not trip, but the others would not either.

What's a good path forward to narrow down the issue?

Make sure the payout fingers on the payout disc are not resetting too far back. it should rest on the 2 payout segment  and not behind it. the wizard .

Payout relay on the back of the hopper might need adjustment and or cleaning.
Per your description about manually holding it down to achieve a payout.
