Title: Aristocrat Mk7 Viridian Widescreen No Video Signal LOAR22A17 Message
Post by: rtharry on May 27, 2023, 10:31:37 PM
Hi Gurus, new user, been viewing as a guest for a few years,  first post,

I couldnt find any info searching so thought I would throw it out there.  I just bought a Multi Game Mk7 Viridian ? Widscreen from NSW Australia with a known issue.  Everything powers up but I get a No Video Signal Error with a number, Loar22a17, see attached pic, it is on the top and centre screen.  I have pulled the board, removed the video cards, re-seated etc, just wondering if anyone has had this issue and where the best place to start troublshooting would be.  Is it possible to put another Video card in these such as a PC Video Card or is it specific.

Thanks all,  Ryan

The game will not post unless you have a video card that has specific Aristocrat firmware.  The system will not finish post.  You can remove the card from the mpu and test it on a pc to see if you get an image.  If you do, then you probably have something going on with either the mpu or the power supply.  If you get no image while using it on a pc, then you have a video card issue, and you must source a video card that was sourced by Aristocrat.

Thanks, it is the Vid Card that came with it, I will try it in a PC and see if I get a display. I have no errors on the Main Board display, just the 2 red dots which indicate voltages ok.  Nothing else shows up on them when trying to boot

So I just put the Vid card in a PC and it powered up, fan spins, PC boots up fine with picture, so I guess the Vid card is OK.

Now, I tested both 3v batteries in the Main Carrier board and found 1 reading 3v and 1 flat...    I tested the batteries with them still in place as I didnt want to remove them in case it lost any saved settings it already has in BIOS. Would these volts cause a boot issue or just make it lose it's BIOS settings but still boot to settings.

My other thought is the RAM, is this likely to cause this type of issue not booting.  I dont have another stick to swap out.

Thanks again.

bad ram would create beeps.  The battery is not for bios settings, it is for nvram settings.  You will probably have to clear the machine anyway, so replacing the batteries is something you need to do.   There's an 8 segment led that is on these boards.  You can follow the post by looking at what numbers it displays and where it gets stuck.  If you have no numbers at all, it means that the mpu is not even starting to post, which could mean either bad bios, bad power supply, or worse, a bad mpu.
