Title: Bally V7000 GAMEMAKER POWER ISSUES
Post by: 61Wally on September 15, 2023, 12:00:45 AM
Hello to All. On My Upright machine, below the power switch there are 4 circuit breakers. The top One trips when power is turned on. Does anyone know what part of the machine this breaker is wired into?
Also when power is turned on, The RED FAIL LED on The MPU is on, and 3 of 4 Green LEDS are lit. The 12+ LED is NOT On. T U All for continuing to support and teach me about the various machines.

Update on Issue: I was able to prevent the top circuit breaker from blowing, when I disconnected the white Molex plug from the backplane, The MPU is out as well. Any thoughts if the backplane’s short, before I take it out?

It is usually on the back side of the backplane board.

OK, Thank You for the information. I’m Not 100% sure, but possibly the mess of stuff on the board caused something on the backplane to short. I found 3 chips in backwards, A IGT in U25 and this One with a BLOOD BATH of solder on it!!! I will pull the backplane today and see what I can find.

Wow, is that humanly possible?
Maybe it was the 5v rail shorting but it seems odd that the 12v led was not lit.
Didn’t you have several machines you broke down for parts? Maybe you should drop in another board to verify everything else is ok.

I was able to download the schematic and I found out that whoever was working on this should be working at a scrap yard, There was a wire tapped off the candle wiring that was shorting to the bell. Also on the comparitor module someone used a long sheet metal screw to mount it. I thought that Duct tape and bubble gum was bad!!!

The red wire was the 12 volt and the screw pierced the “MAX BET” switch. I put the backplane in a plastic bag and hooked it back up, Now the breaker holds. Hopefully send working pictures soon. I really appreciate the avenue that You suggested to follow.

“PROBLEM SOLVED” Thank You NLG members that give me help. As I’ve stated before, I absolutely love this hobby as it keeps my mind/memory stimulated instead of getting it getting worse.
