Title: Game King Main Battery Error
Post by: jonbbrew on January 07, 2024, 12:13:30 AM
Helping a friend out as I’m a S2000/S+ guy. What to do here? Is it like a battery change need like on the reel machines? What about the validation error?

Thanks.

Yes, there's a coin cell battery on the MPU board that needs to be changed just like the S2000.  The options verification required is an informational message letting you know the game options may have changed.  Once you change the battery there will be an OK box on the screen you can touch and then the message will go away.

Thanks. Do you know what battery it is so I can ensure the one in there is correct?

Mine has a CR2354...  On the popular delivery web site a lot of reviews indicating knockoffs and dead batteries coming in.  I ended up finding some (at a 2 week backorder) on a electronics component site.

[I'm new here, but I assume forum rules disallow specifically naming retailers, otherwise would give more specifics]

Original 3902 boards have a BR2032 battery soldered in place.  044 boards have CR2354 in a battery holder.  I've put battery holders on my 3902 boards so they use CR2354 batteries.  Some put battery holders so they take CR2032s.  The only way to know for sure is to look at the board and see what is on it now.  If it has a soldered battery I would put a battery holder in it so you don't have to do any soldering next time it needs to be replaced.

Skoon you can name retailers here if you wish.

I got holder clips and batteries on both DigiKey...  trust them for multiple projects.

No kidding eh?  I buy all my batteries from Digikey and thankfully haven't had any problems.  I usually get panasonic coin cells, and Tadiran lithium batteries.
