Igt game king 044 my attendant key won’t work

Attendant key just stopped working does nothing tried jumping the wires still nothing any ideas?

Is the green varta battery still on your board?
Have you checked the voltage on the coin battery?

Yes green varta battery still on the board and the coin battery is new

I replaced the battery same issue any other ideas worked fine then someone hit cash out and I tried to clear it and the key just does nothing

I'd say the next thing to try is a memory wipe, assuming you don't have another MPU you can test with.

I did a ram clear and everything clears but when it asks to turn attendant key it does nothing

should be two wires on the attendant key try removing them and jump them together to see if you have a bad key switch

I think that's what he did in the first post.

From the keyswitch it goes to J11 pin 7 on the motherboard and then to the MPU through J1-A23.  You can trace those out and if it's good then it's time to replace the MPU board. 

Clearing the RAM/EEPROM isn't ever going to fix a hardware issue and usually only creates new problems by changing all the system settings to default.  I can't for the life of me figure out why it's the first thing some people want to do.

can you show a picture of the green varta battery area.  I usually remove these as well as the telltale chip u24.  I find that they cause nothing but problems, and are not required outside of a casino environment. I've had similar issues, not sure if this was the fix, but worth a try if what Tilt says doesn't find any obvious troubles.

I removed the verta battery I can’t seem to locate j1-a23 that tilt was talking about I do apologize I’m pretty new to this scene and know some but nearly not enough I appreciate all y’all’s help

Here's a couple of pictures that show you where the Jackpot Reset signal is on the motherboard.  It comes from the switch to J11 and then to P1 and then to the MPU.  The you should have continuity between the YEL/GRN wire and the pins indicated by the red arrows).  I use a small sewing needle as a probe for the motherboard connector.  The BLK/RED wire on the other side of the jackpot Reset switch is a ground.  You should have continuity between it and the metal frame of the machine.  If the switch wiring passes continuity checks and the switch itself is working then the problem is on your MPU board.

  did you also remove the telltale u24?  both the battery and u24 need to be removed.

It appears that he ruled out it being a hardware issue (except that he didn't have another MPU to test with), so ruling out the software is a next logical test.

I have continuity between j-11 and p1-a23 and through the ground as well however the ground one is spotty for some reason like beeps then stops for a second and continues to beep and stop periodically almost like it’s just not continuous idk. The verta battery and chip is gone. Looks like I’m gonna be on the hunt for new boards thank you all for your help if anyone has an idea where to obtain these parts please let me know my current machine had 37 working games I’d like to get at least that again

The ground should have good continuity too.  Maybe you weren't making good contact with the leads?  Try touching just the YEL/GRN wire to ground and see if the machine responds or not.

Machine still does nothing unfortunately. So does this mean I need a new mpu and flash board? If so is there any upgrade I could get since it’s getting replaced any way?

Just the MPU, the flash board is good.  Look at the pins on the MPU connector to make sure one isn't bent.  Probably not, but one last thing to look at before finding a replacement.  You already have a 044 MPU, so there really isn't anything to upgrade to from there.

Ketchip 40 is used for 3902, it will not work in 044 boards.
