Title: S+ has sound, no display

New machine, had bad board and some acid damage on backplane.

I replaced both.

With  clear chip in good board,  machine makes correct sound at start-up, but still has no display.

I don’t have a replacement VFD to test. Is there another way to test display?

An S+ doesn't have a VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display).

you probably put a wrong cable on the motherboard, typically the 7 pin connectorof J5 is in J14.

Thanks Jim.

J5 was in there,  but the clip is broken,  so it was loose.

Re-seated & display is up.


Works with pseudo coin button, but it’s not seeing door closed.
The eyes look lined up,  but may not be functioning.
