Title: Shipping Overseas
Post by: big_e on February 05, 2020, 06:04:44 AM
Hey Guys
Need some advice here on shipping.  I have a friend overseas who found a Nugget 5 line here in the states that he wanted for his collection.  It was very close to me so I bought it, and took it home to go through it for him.  Everything plays good so now we have to figure out how to get it to him.  He is arranging shipping by boat and he asked me a couple questions I wanted to get your input on.

1.  Shipping on a boat, do we need to be concerned about rust?  I can crate it and perhaps include some of those bags that suck up moisture.
2.  Should I remove the glass and pack separately and air freight?  Or remove and include in the crate with some very good packing like foam board.

Thanks all
E

Hi Big E, I would crate it and remove the hopper/reel mech to avoid the pins getting sheared off or damaged,If it was me I would also remove belly and reel glass because those would be hard to find UNLESS you can print the replacements

last time i shipped overseas- the freight forwarder required crates be made of pressure treated wood!!  that wood is expensive and HEAVY - I believe I used SEEKO WORLDWIDE?  been awhile. maybe things have changed.
