Hey Gang
Been lurking in the background the last couple of years.
Just received my first machine a S2000 Roundtop Triple Double Wild Cherry.
When you power it up it does the memory test, and then throws the Reel 1 Tilt error, reels never spin.
Nothing touching the reel.
Swapped reel positions several times, error always on reel 1 position no matter which reel is in there.
Have reseated reel harness on board, and have reseated MPU.
Vendor suspects bad MPU, wanted your input before I go to the trouble to ship the board to have it tested.
Thanks
Ron
Update 12/17/2022
Finally solved the issue, after swapping out everything one at a time, it turned out to be the Motherboard. The 1270 MB has two fuse holders at the bottom of the board. The lower one of the two was cracked, so the fuse was held in very loosely, barely even staying in the holder. After swapping out the MB everything is great!
A big thumbs up to all who offered help. :thank_you: :propeller: :applause:

Inspect the reel harness thoroughly to make sure there's no broken wires. Also be sure you are not pushing a wire out of the connector and that the tabs on the connector are holding it in the reel tray properly.

What happens when you open and close the door? Does it clear the tilt and then run normal?
I have a machine that frequently has a reel 1 tilt at startup. I just open and close the door to reset it, then it completes the bootup without any problem. I have never had a reel tilt on this machine during play. Instead of troubleshooting the problem, I just decided I can live with it.

That sounds like a SG chip issue. Older SG chips on an enhanced cpu usually do that sometimes more than once when booting.

RB,
You're right. It's a 702 board and I'm running SG000378. The game is Top Dollar SB100512.

I assume you mean 1270 mpu. Try SG000577. Should remedy the problem. You will likely get a machine type mismatch after the swap. Just change it back to upright and scroll through the rest of the key chip menu to verify the other settings. Be sure you have a Version 11 chip.

Thanks for the input guys.
I did check the harness, sockets, and tabs all seem OK.
dailey, no it does not clear at all.
Mine is also a 1270 with SG000363.
It was working when shipped so I don't think that is the issue.

1270 board with 363s most definitely can cause reel tilts at boot up.

Hi SCM
Yes, but as above are they not clearable?
-
Yes, usually. It just keeps getting worse with some games and you have to switch SGs

Thanks, I have no problem getting new SGs, I just want to get the MPU shipped ASAP if necessary
-
Also, gonna need IVC00224 and KEY00045
-
RB should have everything you need.
-
Use SG000523 or 598 with that TDWC on a 1270.
-
Well I sent the MPU off to the Vendor yesterday.
:CaptainHappy_worried:
Will keep you posted.
Thanks all for the input.

MPU is back. They said tested as good.
Still kicking the Reel 1 Tilt error
Any More thoughts?

One more time: Change to SG chips meant for a 1270 board.

Yes, I PMd RB yesterday

Hey Gang
I ordered the chips from Ron.
Just as a matter if discussion, if the Vendor tested the board with the same chips in it, wouldn't it have kicked the same errors for them?

H Gang
Still waiting for my SG chips to arrive, but I have a question. How do you clear errors if the door optics have been removed?
A little research on my own.... they did the red and green wire mod to the cherry switch..... :banghead:
Still waiting on those chips.......
-
Not to butt in......
But......
I'd find a new vendor if I were you. Especially if they're bypassing Door Optics and don't understand Basic Chip Compatabilities for S2000 machines.
Just my thoughts,

Could you please answer the question in Reply #2?
Apparently these chips you have will error at boot-up but may clear when you open and close the door afterwards.
Thanks.

If the optic bypass was done properly the cherry switch should show the door open and closed just like the optics did. Open the door and it should show open on the VFD. Push and hold or pull out the cherry switch plunger to the locked position and it should function as if the door is closed. The plus side of that is being able to play while the door is open while the switch is pulled out.

Hi I did answer that in reply #6
No, it does not clear at all.

Hi Ron
Yes it was done properly, and functions correctly. It just doesn't clear the error.
...Looks like the chips should be here Monday.....can't wait!

Chips arrived early.
Thank You, Ron :applause:
Replaced chips, and ran Key.
Reel 1 Tilt :hissyfit: :banghead:

Try one more time. Remove reel 1 then closely examine the connector secured to the reel shelf for any damaged or burned pins. Also check the plastic connector tabs that lock the connector in place. On one of my machines, a tab is broken off so the only way I can ensure a good connection is to reinforce the rear of the connector with my fingers, holding it firmly in place as I seat the reel.
I think you have shown that the problem is not in the reel and probably not in the MPU since you still have the error. The next place I would start looking is the wiring harness and connections to the mother board. Next the mother board itself for damage or burned traces.

Hi Dailey
I have completely removed the harness and inspected it. I then connected it directly to the reels without the shelf, making sure it was tight on the reels.
Same error.
I also am beginning to suspect the motherboard.

Hey All
I have now swapped out everything except the Motherboard, I have one on the way.
An odd thing I just noticed, the VFD always shows Reel 1 Tilt, I just looked in the Tilt History and it shows the last 16 items were Reel 3 Tilt ??????
After that I tried swapping Reel 3 and Reel 2 to see if it made a difference, and VFD = Reel 1 and Tilt History = Reel 3
Has anyone ever seen something like this
Thanks, Ron
