Will look and see..
Thank you..
these are $$$$,,,, Man,,

That is just a Rom chip and board.
Are you having a low battery problem?
If so the top part of the chip is where the battery is
and would most likely be the only thing to replace.
-
From what i read on them that is the battery?
yes im having low battery and a hole bunch of other errors.
im thinking because of the low battery...
there is a rom chip that plugs into this dallas one,
-
The part that is turned up side down should be the battery
Turn over the other part in your picture and post a picture of it.
-
that is both sides... one shows it turned over an the other side is the top side after the rom chip has been removed.
i will post three pics of it.
-
first pic is bottom side..
Pic two is top side with rom chip installed on it.
Pic three is top pic with out rom chip installed on it.
-
The first picture posted, the chip with the legs up, is there any thing stamped on it?
How many chips do you have. I have seen a "C & E" chip.
-
there is one chipand it that has a C
THE first pic i posted in the first post was a pic i took off of ebay is the E
-

Do you think i need to replace this chip also or just the battery one?
-
The chip has a battery in it but you can't get to it you have to replace the whole chip.
The battery stays dormant until the chip is plugged into a board and powered up.
Then the battery turns on forever.
Larry at K-LAR may have the one you need. 702-363-9998 M-Sun 11AM - 5 PM PST

thank you Proten for all in info and help.
i just orderd one from http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_133410_-1?avad=55097_d66083bf&source=Avantlink (http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_133410_-1?avad=55097_d66083bf&source=Avantlink)
Do you think i should replace that top rom chip also?
-
It's a 50/50 crap shoot. The one on top is the ram chip and the Dallas is the backup battery for it.
It could be that the battery has died due to old age or the chip could have shorted and drained the battery.
I would replace it due to its age and $5 is cheaper than $25 for another Dallas chip.
-
