Title: IGT GameKing Multi-Game, initialisation issues
Post by: Jam64FR on June 28, 2023, 12:28:52 AM
Good day to all,
After 2 years of storage without any switch-on of my 2 IGT GK 044 machines (I have moved abroad for my job and place them into a global storage area...  :banghead:), I have finally retrieved them but both failed to restart although they were fully functional before being stored
At boot up, nothing happens, the screen remains black but I can see that both motherboards are well energised… Screen options are well accessible meaning that it’s not coming from the screen itself.
Do you eventually have any idea of what is possibly happening?
Thanks for your precious advice, to be honest, I'm a bit lost and I do not know where to start!
Kindest regards,
Thierry from France

Which leds are lit up on the mpu boards?  If your mpu's had the varta battery, it is probably fully discharged and needs to be either replaced or charged up by leaving the machine on for a few hours.  Honestly you should remove the varta battery (Green one that is barrel shaped) and do the necessary mod so the mpu doesn't complain about it being missing.  There's a thread on how to do it and involves removing a component or two, easy to do.

I agree with Rick, but if you do have a Varta battery installed and are running international game software you can't remove the battery.  It's required for international software versions.

Hello all,
Just a quick one to inform you that the issue is in fact coming from the motherboard, on both machines, I found corrosion on several components and 1 of them has also began to blow just under the "CPU". This is certainly due to humidity at storage place...
So for now, by considering their age, condition and global shape, I will consider that these machines are definitely lost
Thanks again for your kind messages in trying to help me!  :applause:
Cheers for now

The motherboard (backplane) is the board the MPU slides into.  You may only need a new 044 MPU on both machines. Also, those boards may be repairable.  The flashboard mounted to MPU and motherboard (backplane) may still be good. Do you see a red led lit or blinking on front of MPU?

Thanks for your feedback  :I_agree_1:
But by considering than in France it is a bit difficult to get such cards and the global condition of the machines which is very poor, I do not want to spend some more money on these machines...
I have posted on dedicated web site for giving them to whom might be interested!
