A new toy that I've been working on for a couple of weeks. Bought an ION iCade cabinet on Craigslist for 20 bucks. Since then, I've installed Pinball Arcade on an iPad 3. I wired it up with flipper and nudge buttons on the sides of the cabinet, added a custom plexiglass marquee, Monster Superstar Bluetooth speaker, and white pseudo t-molding.
It's a great little bartop game. My wife and kids love playing it!
Below are some pics and video of it in action!
Thanks,
Jason

That's pretty cool. :applause:
How do the flippers interface with the iPad?
-
Bluetooth built into the cabinet.

Does it require the iPad to be jailbroken to work? Guess I'm asking what apps can work like that. I have an iPad 2 that could see "repurposing" for something like this.

No jailbreaking required. Just download the Pinball Arcade app and purchase the games that you like.
I'm on the fence with MAME as this was originally intended to be used for pinball only. Also, my understanding is that iMAMEFORALL can only be used on jailbroken devices. I could be wrong.

What about the bluetooth interface? Is there a specific one that works with the app?

I'm not aware of any specific requirements.

Well, doesn't there have to be some sort of special bluetooth interface that allows for the buttons. Or is it using standard bluetooth keyboard keys that are wired parallel to switches?

Ok, so it comes all complete. I thought you had to buy the empty cabinet and then build the rest. I think I need to get one of these. Thanks.

Now add a Pull arm on the side and a slot machine app.!

Made a new marquee design. Spiced it up a bit and matched much better!
Thanks,

Yeah, that would REALLY be cool! Especially if IGT and Bally would release apps of their video slots!

Nice addition Jason.
Its the modern version of the early 80s Vectrex system, pic attached incase you haven't seen one. Cool little system.
That bartop pinball, being much small than an actual pinball leaves more room for slots :cool_thumb_up: .

So, you can't do anything g through DoubleDown Casino (IGT) or Jackpot Party (WMS) apps? I would think there would be something you could do??
