Title: JCM WBA 11,12 AND 13 - LIST OF SOFTWARE
Post by: GOS on September 03, 2015, 05:22:25 PM
Is there a list of the various eprom software used on JCM  WBA 11, 12 AND 13?   for S+ machines -  i have v2 04-03   v3.34-03  v2.07-03  would like to know what the latest eproms are and what bills they handle - obviously the flash memory would not apply to the transports i have as they are Eprom based.  thank you

new $5 is the last update ever for the S+.  There is no new $100 chip for it.  You can go to the jcmglobal site and look up the software version information there.

here's the JCM webpage rick is referring to:

http://am-en.jcmglobal.com/support/downloads/software-information/ (http://am-en.jcmglobal.com/support/downloads/software-information/)

(you don't have to make a selection in every search field but the more you select the shorter the list of findings)

i appreciate but do not understand the website - maybe I didn't word my request correctly - I have the listed software - what bills do they cover and what is the latest version available for the wba11/12 eprom for S+

After you select the fields on the JCM software search screen, (i.e.  United States, Hardware WBA-11, Protocol -022/023 and Stacker SS), then you click on the Search button at bottom the screen. It will then show a screen listing all the JCM software releases that match what you selected on the search screen. In the far right-hand column is a link to the description of the software release, which includes the bills it affects. On older software releases the description is not as informative as the newer ones but they all describe the bills that the software release affects. If you know your stacker type (SS, SH, etc) and your bill acceptor id protocol (-023, -024, -003 etc) and select those on the search screen then that will help to reduce the number of search results. The more search fields you complete on the search screen the more exact the search results will be.

For the WBA-11 s/w ver 2.04-03 you mentioned this is the JCM software description:
http://old.jcm-american.com/products/v_software_update.asp?id_num=19278 (http://old.jcm-american.com/products/v_software_update.asp?id_num=19278)

For the WBA-11 s/w ver 2.07-03 here is their description:
http://old.jcm-american.com/products/v_software_update.asp?id_num=20252 (http://old.jcm-american.com/products/v_software_update.asp?id_num=20252)

For the WBA-11 s/w ver 3.34-03 here is their description:
http://old.jcm-american.com/products/v_software_update.asp?id_num=33340 (http://old.jcm-american.com/products/v_software_update.asp?id_num=33340)

They sometimes show different software description webpages for the WBA-11 and WBA-12 even when the software ver is the same, so you may want to search using the particular WBA model you want to check on. But there's probably not any or much difference in the bills that the particular software recognizes if the ver number is the same for a WBA-11 and a WBA-12. More likely it has to do with flash versus eprom or other things like 2-way or 4-way bill insertion acceptance.

Below is the last software release for the WBA-11, id -022/023. It was ver 3.60-03.  And below that is the last software release for the WBA-12, id -022/023, it was ver 3.75-03i. You didn't say if your WBA models use id protocol -022/023, I just figured they do. If not, there are other s/w releases for different id protocols.

These documents are in the newer, more informative Software Information Sheets they eventually started using:

excellent information - thank you  - what is the last eprom version then for the SS ID22/23 protocol?
as I understand it the WBA heads are all the same, it is the transports that are different. The WBA models with odd numbers like WBA-11 use eproms, the even-numbered models like WBA-12 use flash memory. The WBA-13 is also eprom based and it is an improvement over the WBA-11, it allows 4 way bill insertion whereas the WBA-11 only accepted the bill one-way.

So if you are asking about the last eprom version for a WBA-11 SS, id=022/023 it is the 3.60-03 mentioned at bottom of reply #4. JCM lists it as the last SS software released in id 022/023 protocol for both the WBA-10 and WBA-11. Its release date was Feb 8, 2006.

They did release newer software on May 9, 2008 for SS 022/023 for the WBA-13, it is ver 3.75-03i. The info document for it is also attached to the bottom of reply #4 above. Since it is newer by a couple of years than the last software for the WBA-11 I'd expect it to work with more of the new style bills. Keep in mind that WBA-13 software will not work in a WBA-11. To convert a WBA-11 setup to a WBA-13 you'd need to get a WBA-13 transport and its cable, the cables are different between WBA-11 and WBA-13 transports.

I believe what I've stated here is correct, most of it comes from what I've learned from rickhunter's terrific postings. If someone sees an error please make the correction.
