Ok, so I have beat my head against the wall on a machine that keeps giving me a Coin In Jam error along with a Door M error. I have swapped the I/O cards with cards I know are good, I have swapped the bypass coin clip on the door with other ones. The door optics line up because I have no issue key chipping the game.
My next step was going to be to replace the mother board, unless you guys point me in a different direction?

Door M errors are many times associated with the Varta battery leaking, as those traces seem to be underneath it. My first thought anyway.

How about posting a picture of the board in question.. Sounds like a bad MPU..

I think you've got the right idea about the next thing to try.
-
Ok so I tried 4 different MPU's that I know are working boards with no luck
I swapped out the mother board
Now I was getting the coin in jam error and Closure M, but I opened and shut the latch about 10 times and now I am getting a meter disconnect error in place of the coin in jam error.
Where do I go next?????????????????????????????????????

Cabinet side IO card
-
Door side also, for that matter

Cabinet side IO card
Ron just called me and said the same thing so I pulled a set of working I/O cards out of a game and I am going to try that tomorrow.

i have an open thread for the exact same issue (VISION GAME) that has not been resolved - I have searched NLG and found that there are different IO cards depending on the button deck? on the machine. During my LENGTHY thread (there were other issues with my machine) questions arouse about the button deck. SO is there a list of IO CARD part numbers

SO is there a list of IO CARD part numbers
From the archive. (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=17064.0) Hope this helps.

took a shot - the io board i have is 14928001 (list say 1428001) - I assume to be the same? I have a 5 button panel.

you can call up the machine diagnostics, go to game tests. processor inputs, first test should be light pen, go to the next test, this will tell you if the main door is actually being seen by the cpu as being closed. you will have to close the door and put the latch down, you should see the "1" toggle back and fourth to a "0"quite rapidly, if it is doing this then the door optics loop is closed. you can check the cash can optics in the next test as well, this should rule out the optics.

Jim, I can't do this unless you know another way to get the menu up during a key chip process. Don't know how to exit the set up process because it is stuck at the close the main door.

Does it have meters or are they bipassed?

yes it has meters they are not bypassed. Only the cash box and belly door have been bypassed.
-
Are there any issues with the belly door switch? That is wired in series with the door optic.
-
Is it a coinless machine? If it does have coins it may truly be a coin in error I just had one that was driving me crazy. It was a coined machine and the optics board below the comparator was bad. Who would have thought a real coin in error LOL.
