Title: Bally 5500 jumper reset help
Post by: Gleng2 on May 21, 2015, 08:32:02 AM
Can someone tell me how to do a jumper reset on my Bally 5500. Is it possible on all 5500's or just some?

There is a jumper right in front of the large computer chip. Put it on two pins, hold down pseudo and test buttons, turn power on, watch display for clear indication. Make sure your battery reads at least 3 volts.

Thanks for the reply Badbaud, did the reset now for the dumb question. Is there any difference between the jumper reset and the chip reset?

As far as I know there is no chip reset option for a 5500.

I have been working on them for 10 years and never seen such a chip.

Has anyone else?

Attached are some of the setup options after you do a clear.

Thanks for the info, I have the machine working but the bill acceptor will only accept $1 bills and I'm looking to change that so it will take all bills up to $20 and so I can put in more than just 2 coins in at a time. Maybe the answer is in the service card you posted, I'll look.

Nothing there on how to change the what the bill acceptor will take or the coins. Is there a dip switch setting for this?

What kind of bill acceptor does it have?

Is it a DBV200 or DBV145 (I don't think the 5500 had WBA bill acceptors).

There are updated chips available for either version that will allow the bill acceptor to take new $20.

There are also some DIP switch settings on the board to select the type of bill validator you have.

See the attached manual.

Also, on the bill validator, on the bottom you will see some DIP switches which select which bills it will accept or reject.

The attached manual should explain that also.

Thanks for the manual Badbaud. I have the DBV200 which is not covered in the manual. I'll do a search here and see if anyone has posted the switch settings for the DBV200. Right now mine are DS1 1-10 all off, DS2 1on 2-6 off. On the MPU board JW3 1,2,4,5,7-off 3,6,8-on, JW7 all on. I'm not sure if I'd have to change any of the settings on the MPU it is set up for$.25. The bill validator front bezel say it will accept 1,5,10 & 20.

There are two kinds of DBV200 heads. The first has a IC socket underneath it and takes a chip to get it programmed for newer bills.

The other does not have a socket and needs it's RAM chip to be flashed with a special programmer to install the software.

Either way you could call Larry at 702-363-9998 and send your head and transport in to get it updated, tested, and calibrated.

I did find info on the DBV200 from the JCM web site. One thing I tried to do was set the ID to 45 by the #10 sw, that didn't work. It says in the DBV flipbook the DS2 1-6 are for diagnostics so I will try changing sw1 on DS2 and see if that makes a difference. If that don't work then maybe I need to change the switches on the MPU.

I'll attach the  flipbook and manual for the DBV200.

Ya, I have both of them but what I really need is a complete WBA manual.

I run into many WBA where I can't download new software and after I clean and lube it I test it in a machine and (S2000) it takes the new $20, $50, and $100 bills so it has the last software update JCM made for the WBA series.
