Hello everyone, first post.
Looking for info on this game that I used to sit at for long periods of time when I was depressed years ago. It made me smile and forget. I got hit by a truck at a crosswalk last year and am very bored. Am looking to try and find information on this game and if possible (someday) maybe get all the pieces I need. I've been to pinrepair for the little bit of info. But I cannot find anything else. It may have been dotmation and I kind of remember it having 5 reels. Thank you.

Is this a WMS-550 or WMS Bluebird machine, or something else??
For something like this we really need to see photos of the machine. Please post some if you can. WMS made several variations of Monopoly themed machines. But if the one you're thinking about was several years ago it was probably either a WMS-550 or what they called a Bluebird model.
-
It might be a 250 slant top http://www.pinrepair.com/slots/wms/monopoly.htm (http://www.pinrepair.com/slots/wms/monopoly.htm)
I really can't find any pics or anyting.
Could be a 550 sit down unit

Those model 250 and 360 machines are pretty old, not sure how much info or photos you will be able to find.
What are you wanting to find out? Wanting to build/buy one, or something else?
Those machines with the Monopoly theme were leased to the casinos and were returned to WMS for destroying when the casino no longer wanted them.
-
Build one. I need a hobby. I remember it having a touch screen to build houses and hotels on the board. I remember it having 5 reels, I think they were video. Thanks
-
I'm not an expert on these machines but I'm afraid you've picked one that is very elusive. Many hobbyists have looked for years to find one, or even the Monopoly parts off a machine. Those older slant top (sit-down) style Monopoly machines will be really hard to find or recreate I think.
Because they were all (or mostly all) returned to WMS for destroying there aren't any that come up for sale, unless something out of the ordinary happens.
-
It's the only one for me. I had fun with Money Grab, Party train and a few others. It would be great to have a database of all of the different versions there are dozens. Maybe that could be my first challenge.
-
Some of the smaller casinos in the USA, and ones operated by Native Americans (aka Indian casinos) often still have older slot machines. Here's some examples. The machine in the bottom photo can still be found and bought, I believe it is an all-video model, so is software-based and more likely to be available even now. The older models that used Monopoly themed glass signage & custom-made Monopoly toppers and other parts are the ones very hard to find.

Thanks. That's good to know. I have seen a member in the past with a topper board from that gen monopoly as his profile pic. I will search him out also.
-
This is probably who you are referring to. You could send a pm to this NLG member, he's one of the Monopoly slot machine hobbyists and he could probably give you more information and tips. Just click where it says "send this member a personal message".

Here's an example of Monopoly slot machine parts and what they sometimes sell for, when you can find them:

It's really funny because I am the one who bought that. Was waiting for it to arrive in the mail before I posted about it. That is the Roll and Win top. There were dice on top of that board.
-
Love me some Monopoly :)
Roll & Win is a 3 reel mechanical dotmation game. It had a condensed Monopoly board, with dice on top. I dont have anything for this machine, aside from photos.

"Time for the Bonus!"
Hi. Thanks. I'd love some pictures if you have any. That would really be awesome. I can know what I'm looking for. Do you know the machine model? *Edited because the question I asked was answered above.
-
Thought I remembered a touch screen to build houses on the board? Really thought it had 5 reels. * Sorry about double posting, I could not find way to erase it.

Off the top of my head, I would say Once Around Deluxe. That's a 5 reel video with touch screen. The bonus allows you to buy properties, as you described. I have a video of my play when it used to be at Mermaids in Downtown Las Vegas. There might be other Monopoly games that play the same way, but I have not played them myself to know specifically. I'll find my video to post.

Hi and Thank you. It had the dice on top. And the topper I just bought is the right one. That I know for sure. Any help is greatly appreciated. It's my white whale I guess. It really did look like the advance to boardwalk machine but I remember color screen.
Guess it could have been a 550 with reels. It was in 2000.

The topper you bought on Ebay belongs to Monopoly Movers & Shakers, which does not have dice. I have the full top box of that game.
Here's my video of Once Around Deluxe: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VwwgVrBJI6E

Whoa okay. It said first generation topper on the information when I bought it and I thought it looked dead on. To my knowledge there were only 2 first gen games? You are the expert I will take your word. Ok, so I'm starting from scratch now. :) * edited for clairity

That's is a beautiful machine! Like a newer version of the one I'm looking for. The dice were on top on the one I'm looking for.
Thanks for posting. I really like that machine also.
-
Beautiful picture of your topper, it's great!
Ok, so I'm back to scratch. Nearly positive it was Roll and Win or Spin and Win.

FYI, I'm not an expert on slots. I know more about Monopoly though. You first need to ID the exact game you want. There's a handful that look alike, having the game boards on them.
I dont know what first gen means, to answer that question. The first two Monopoly slots were Advance To Boardwalk and Roll & Win.
-
This is Roll & Win
I have another photo at home, I'll post later.

That's it! I guess it has 5 Paylines not reels.
Thank you! Just to look at it is great. I must be combining features of other monopolies since it's been so long.Do you know the 2 video slots that were mentioned in that article?
-
I have yet to get one of these cabinets. I searched everywhere. I hope one day, someone with one of these will find this topic and contact me :)

Yes, the original Once Around, which has dice and you can pick properties. The other video was Reel Estate (no dice).

Thanks
-
Once around eh? Thank you, that might be it. Pinrepair article said that the last big order of older machines got sent to Canada. That's where I am. Will start searching here instead of the States.

There are several legacy monopoly games that can be played at home with a dual screen WMS 55x/36x cabinet. These are:
Party Train, Money Line, Money Grab, Hot Properties, and Free Parking. They used to have a video screen in the middle of the monopoly playboard. But the game will play without the playboard topper, you only need the dual screen setup for it to work.
The once around software is relatively easy to find, the hard part is finding the topper with the software chip installed on it. It has eluded all of us for years. There were people who had everything but that one chip (famously known [or infamously] as the XU10 chip). The one with the spinning mechanical dice has a similar story.
The later Bluebird 1 generation has several monopoly games that will also work. In those cases, the games with the topbox can be "fooled" into thinking it has the topbox, so the game plays with the main screen. The only caveat is that during the bonus rounds, you don't see what the lightbox is doing, you only see the results when displayed on the screen.
-
Wow! Thanks for all the info.

This is what I have for that game, including the XU10 chip.

Great picture! You have the chip :)
Why have you not assembled a cabinet?
-
jagroups, I have XU17, XU18, XU30 and XU31 for that game. All you need now is a compete monopoly topbox assembly.
-
That is exciting!

Thanks for this information.

Were you close enough to pick it up in person or were you able to convince him to ship it to you? Congrats...

I arranged a pick up! There was no way I was passing on this.
Now I just need the base cabinet!
